maxis CS told me of their current policy
- no longer processing MNP on weekends
- no longer doing it at nighttime

all on weekday, daytime.

Different customer, different treatment.

I suggest to walk-in since online treats you like that.
Pretend bodo did not check anywhere before.

Even when I walked-in, different branch offered differently.
One does not allow Zerolution, but have to pay full upfront and still be contracted.
One allowed Zerolution but have to pay some upfront.
One allowed Zerolution with nothing need to pay upfront.

Sick, right?

Yes, this is true in my experience.
When I want to take iP13PM, within 2hr at 2 different Centres get 2 different offers.
1 Centre say not eligible, can only take contract with device prepaid in full, another Centre allowed me to take not only iP13PM but also 45mm Watch7 with no upfront and no need to change rateplan.

the 1 with zerolution+partial upfront was from few months before the above.

i suggest, if you are not agreeable to what is promoted, walk-in few months after just to see if they change the treatment.

You can show the receipt. Just check if it is clean, no need to know who is the owner.

if it isn't, then you have rights to demand reparation from switch for the deceit.

maxis also have rights unencumbered rights to the device in question as zerolution device are wholly owned by maxis and cannot change owner before end of contract, just like hire purchase vehicles belong to financing institution before final payment is received. you can't win.

it just so happened that Maxis already retired all their pre-5G rateplans, and only 5G-included rateplans are left available.

but why would you be without phone?

you cancel the zerolution contract by paying [RRP divide contract length multiply by outstanding contract length] + penalty for cancelling it earlier.
maxis or any telco for that matter won't take the phone back lah.

why the penalty?

the give you discounted device, and in return you had previously promised to continue pay them RM128 rateplan for 24mth. but now you want to renege. so instead of having to pay the full RM1536 for the outstanding RM128*12mth (as example), they're asking for maybe few percent of the device price as compensation for unrealised promise.

maybe to you RM43 is steep amount as you are in your final month, but if you look at perspective of someone else who maybe is in month 18, having to pay RM43(?) but escapes from the final monthly bill of [RM139*6mth] could be a blessing.

after all, once you terminate contract, there is no guarantee you won't change to cheaper plan or MNP out altogether.

that's fair, no? unlike fibre contract in which if you renege, you are still liable to pay the monthly commitment multiply by outstanding months.

no. you are cancelling the device contract, not cancelling the mobile subscription.
Your 2nd sentence is correct.
You promised to diligently pay for your mobile subscription AND phone installment for 2 yrs or 3 yrs.
Now you want to renege on that promise.
So just pay the remaining balance of your phone installment - they also don't want to restock your used gadget, menyusahkan nak lupus nanti.
And some small penalty for your phone installement.
Maxis don't ask your to pay the mobile subscription for the balance of the contract term.
Then you are free to make new promise over a new device; or make changes to your mobile subscription.

Zerolution360 (no longer available) is RENTAL; is the one you have to return device to Maxis, but even that one have option to make it permanently yours.
Zerolution is hire purchase - bank don't ask you to return your vehicle after you finish paying, right?

early 2022, for my current ip13pm,
website says need full upfront, centre1 says not qualified for zerolution, centre2 says need a bit upfront, centre3 says no need upfront. and they all check in the same internal credit eval system.
i pay bills manually but never overdue.

really just pure luck and timing.

That is installment by credit card provider, not by Maxis or merchants themselves.
Maxis and merchants still get full payment on "day1".

it will be funny (and frustrating) story for your friend if home delivery also requires the same.

but i am surprised if he can order a new phone using his identity, eventhough the primary account is somebody else. when i toy with online zerolution interface, it always requires validating TAC sent to primary number...

- half eligible, need to pay some amount upfront and monthly installment
- eligible, no upfront, just installment

so, long tenure and being good paymaster does not work for me, i guess whistling.gif
