It is only recently that I have developed an interest for watches. I'm thinking of getting the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra. Need advise from experienced sifus here.
a) Where to buy? Watatime, Omega or others? I was at Watatime 1U but that branch no longer carry Omega.
b) Saw in a youtube video that dealers can give up to 15% discount from recommended retail price. Is that true?
c) Is buying a watch similar to buying a car? i.e. better to buy in January rather than December for additional one year of resale value.

Appreciate your feedback, thanks.

Same here. All my life, I have never really interested in mechanical watch... all of a sudden, during mco...
I bought 5 seiko watches... all mechanical... within 2 months...

Now thinking of getting swiss watch...and Omega seamaster is really on my list...

Nice collection you got there, one of my MCO purchase was Prospex Turtle “Save the Ocean” Dark Manta Ray Special Edition SRPF77K1 . Excellent time piece. Surprised you are looking at Tudor as well. Same thought...

At the time. I was awestruck by pepsi look diver watch.... and tudor black bay gmt
really2 caught my eye and was really ready to pull the trigger... fortunately able to
catch my breath.. heard that now the black bay gmt has date stuck issue... finally settle
with cheaper seiko spb181j1 which is my favorite now.

Then I was looking around and saw the Omega seamaster 300m co-axial if not mistaken... the
white dial just really made me drooling... but need to save money nowadays...

Me too... but while I was really crazy about seiko.. one of my old friend contacted
me through fb realizing I bought a few seiko already. I didn't realize he is
a watch collector all this years.

He advised me to get swiss watch and how 10-15 years ago he was like me
buying all kind of watches... he got a rolex few years back and stop collecting

Good to know I wasn't the only one who caught the bug. I don't intend to start a big collection, probably only 3 or 4 watches. 2 each for sport and dress.

I would say its a sound advice, to diversify instead of collecting japanese made only. Personally, i would take that advice to feel & experience the different made watches. Whether I would stop after getting a swiss watch, for now i am doubtful biggrin.gif

Went to Omega late last month, somehow couldn't pull the trigger on the Aqua Terra. Finally purchased the Tudor Black Bay Steel 41mm. Wife and I felt that this Tudor looks better on my wrist than the Aqua Terra. Perhaps because my skin is rather dark. This marks the beginning of my horology journey ....
