Hi everyone,

I am new here (first post!), and hope to gather your experiences on this matter.

I am wondering if a portable swimming pool like below (3mx2m, about 3500kg) may be too heavy for a terraced balcony on the 2nd floor (also shown below). I worry the balcony/house collapse on me rclxub.gif ... so any way to confirm if supportable?

Cannot post any links/photos yet... as I am still under probation...

Any comments/advices welcome!

Thank you in advance!

Unless you have the structural drawings (whether it's original or reno extension) , and ask a structural engineer to counter-check it, there is no other way you could know.

3.3~3.5tonne isn't a joke. Image you equivalent to says 3 Honda City Weight.

Did it really weight 3.5tonnes with all the water?

Anyway, I also bought a portable swimming pool and also placed it on balcony since mine is covered. I only put them for few days and then drained it. Mine is a 8ft wide, round intex pool. Whenever I filled it, I will let it there about 3days to enjoy it. Too long and the algar start mushrooming at the bottom and it become really slippery.

Based on the photo he linked, should be around there. It's quite big. With your 8ft round pool and assume 80% full, should be roughly around 2t

Thank you andrekua2 for sharing your experience! It seems to be still a feasible idea, since your balcony is still holding!

Assuming 0.5m tall, an 8 feet diameter pool would have about 2.3 m3 of water....that would be more than 2,000kg or 2 tons in weight, as mentioned by idkihavenoidealol (Thanks!)

And regarding the algae, you can consider adding some chlorine in the water to keep the water sterilized using a Floating Chlorine Dispenser.

I think about 600mm water height, 24".

Personally I think 2tonne spread over 8ft isnt a lot of pressure but I could be wrong (not an engineer)

Now if you were to imagine 30 adults (each 70kg) standing inside an 8ft circle, on a balcony... would you dare to be one of the 30 and move a finger sweat.gif ?

Why not?

Since I work in steel industry, 2tonnes does not seems to be a lot. Besides even though I'm no engineer, I believe the weight will be distributed/dispersed evenly throughout the structure instead of just concentrated inside the 8ft circle.
