Any recommended 5G routers to be used with YES 5G Flexi? Preferable, it can be used for other telcos too. I'm thinking to subscribe one for my hometown and when I'm on the move. If can suggest that can buy from Taobao also ok.

QUOTE(bios123 @ Oct 23 2023, 05:27 PM) may consider the following modems: Thanks! Let me read into these options. I found on Shopee Zyxel 5G routers too and I heard they are not bad. (1) Tplink x50 5G (2) ZTE MC 8010 or 8020 (3) ZTE MC 888 if you need a mifi unit, can consider ZTE 5002 or 5120. Netgear one is pricey. Hope that will help you. Thanks. I'm currently having YES 5G Flexi and planning to change it to U Home 68. Can I subscribe to this plan at Berjaya Times Square and get the SIM card on the spot?

I went to Lot10 and terminated YES 5G and went over to BTS to subscribe U Home 68. Everything is good so far and the upload speed on U Home is far better than YES.
The U Home 68 was activated immediately and I popped it into my spare iPhone 12 PM until I came back and switched it to the 5G router. |

QUOTE(tmc @ Nov 26 2023, 11:07 PM) The Malaysian 5g network is the same network irregardless which service provider you get it from, is that right ? Meaning if one can get 800 Mbps from one service provider, likely if you get from other provider, the speed will be more or less the same. Is that correct ? I thought so but UM works better than YES in my case and for others too.For me, the download speed for UM is about 20Mbps more than YES and higher upload speed. QUOTE(tmc @ Nov 26 2023, 11:25 PM) Perhaps the difference comes from the juice of the routers, Yes probably have older and less powerful routers. I’m using them in the same Zyxel 5G router. What speed do you get from umobile? I was with my phone in a mamak shope, can get 800 Mbps for download, more than the 600 Mbps that I get from my house. Around 520Mbps indoor for U Mobile. Good enough for a backup line because I have fiber and for me to travel to my hometown which has no fixed broadband subscription. |

It seems U Mobile 5G has issues with Apple server? I cannot update apps or it’s very slow when updating them. Once I switched to UniFi Fiber, the speed flies. Am I the only experiencing this issue?

Everything is good with U Mobile 5G but connection to Apple Server is awfully slow. For both apps and iOS updates. No such issues with fiber though.
