I have hired an architect to help me submit the renovation plan and to get full approval from MPSJ.
We have been in the process since April 2021 - the plan was reviewed and signed for approval and was ready to pay the processing fees before lockdown. Unfortunately, when Covid-19 cases hit, there is limited resources in MPSJ and things paused at that stage.
Finally, in Nov & Dec, things started to move again - I was informed that the PIC in MPSJ is changed and need to go through the process again for the review, approval signing, invoice issuance for processing fees etc. With the new PIC, different comments were raised and not able to get approval as per the last round.
Any expert's opinion here to resolve this? I'm currently stressed about this and we have been waiting for more than 1 year from purchasing this sub-sale house to start the renovation.

you can sue MBSJ for breach of approval contract.. If MBSJ proceeds to halt your work and hold your approval then they need to indemnify you for the delay losses.
I believe an approval cannot be recalled just like that and usually the first approval paper would have a expiry date.

The PIC that your architect dealt with has left the dept. The new guy that took over may not know every details that was discussed earlier. He cant be expected to give approval base on someone else work otherwise he shall be responsible should anything happen. Every person look at drawings differently. Some are meticulous while others may be easy going. It all boils down to experience.

Hi, for MPSJ, how much does it cost, roughly, to get architect and engineer to prepare drawings, make submission and liaise with authority, and to obtain CCC?

It depends on the scope of work. Not all job requires architect and engineer. A registered draftman with mbsj can also do the job if is straight forward ground floor extension. Hope my info still valid. I did mine for 2.5k 10 years ago. Now I guess around 4 to 5k for the same reno.
