Hello, I am an electrical engineering diploma student, 4th sem currently. I am doing a Farm Fire Detection Project where I need to use the sim800l v2.0 5V with arduino nano to connect to a thingspeak server. I have the flame detector part working but the sim800l does not seem to be able to connect to the cellular network as it blinks every 1s.(Yes, my sim card is inserted into the module.) I suspect it might be something to do with my 4g hotlink sim card but not to sure. Any advice and guidance welcomed.

Try this before with esp8266 and yoodo sim. If you just power thru arduino nano, the current may not be enough. It needs 2A

QUOTE(wsian @ Dec 6 2021, 06:00 PM) Try this before with esp8266 and yoodo sim. If you just power thru arduino nano, the current may not be enough. It needs 2A I see. I double checked arduino nano specs and it only outputs like 40mA so that is probably why. Any idea on how to power it with like a solar panel? Since it is meant for remote deployment. I cant find any 5V 2A solar panels on shopee.

Sim module is power hungry. Perhaps you should look into low power alternative like LoRa Example https://randomnerdtutorials.com/esp32-lora-...er-arduino-ide/

But I will keep lora in mind just in case I couldn't find anything.
