Getting too expensive these days to even own a Synology box.

Yeah. I already have 5 boxes from 2010 and recently started to repair some of the boxes to prolong the lifespan until 2023.

Want get 4 bay budget unit,
But when saw the price...

Old model also almost same price as new model....

Yeah, the price almost remain same. Maybe because once purchased, it remain in use for many years. Less second hand unit means less force for older unit price to go down.

Saw the announcement, DSM 7.1 is coming. New surveillance station too, for those that use their NAS for camera surveillance.
They also officially launched their C2 suites, cloud services for backup, data transfer, password and identity management. Their Hybrid Share work with C2 Storage for online backup, I got try use it during their beta program. Useful if want offsite backup without the additional NAS hardware and internet line to setup at another location.

My DS-213J now ran on DSM7 but I disabled half of the new features to match back whatever I have running.
