Recently I "Good evening" people, then they replied "Good afternoon" although we are in the same time zone.

What time does Evening takes place?

No specific I think, last time when ppl invented the word also no specific time

You try google the meaning of evening, it says the period from sunset to bedtime.

Do you know our malay peninsula timezone is wrong and cacat. East and west malaysia very far apart but set to same timezone to "standardize".

KL 7.20pm sunset (which is very wrong), Sabah 6pm sunset.

Most countries 6pm already sunset.

So the best time for evening would be 6pm.

Good night is only if somebody wants to sleep.

evening 6pm-9pm
Night 9pm until wakeup
Morning wakeup to 12pm
