Done my food trail at Sitiawan on this weekend, limited food can be tucked in & need to balance between what I wanted to eat & what my kids wanted to eat with calories control. Here are the photos

1) Mor Mor at Kg Koh ~ from the herbal tea stall. Selling at RM 7.80/ bag, got around 6 pieces within a bag.

2) Samy”s Cendol @ Wisma Ganda. Selling at RM 3.20/ bowl. You can request to add red bean or pulut. The taste of this cendol was memorable to me. The santan was fresh with some mild saltiness & mixed with the slightly burn caramel of the gula melaka was a good mixture + the red bean which tasted gila best. Only set back was the shaved was not smooth type.

3) One HotPot. This one was Taiwan's food concept which was brought to the locality. Don't pick too many choices, pick only the food amount you can finish.

4) Ayer Tawar Fried Chicken ( Almost +20 years still selling ), beside Balai Polis. You see Indian customers, you know the food will be value for the money. Selling at RM 2.80 3.00 / piece ( increased by 11.11% as per June 2022 ). The skin was crispy & the fragrant of the fried chicken has it own uniqueness & the pairing with the homemade chili sauce matches perfectly.

Breakfast at Kedai Kopi Hui. The noodles stall, remember to order the kampua served with the cut crispy seafood bean curd (only common here) & pork, the curry mee , the cintan pien nyuk (wantan) & pair with Hainanese Kopi. The serves nasi lemak & nasi kari wrapped with paper bag (egg, fish or prawn option).

If you want, you can order the nasi lemak from the opposite Malay stall & get the order deliver to your seating . Remember to show respect by not mixing the use of the fork & spoon of halal & not halal.

Previously this kampua was selling at RM 4.50/ bowl, the latest price is RM 5.00/bowl (around 9.00% increased)

Seafood noodle & Mee Jawa @ Pantai Remis, Perak.

This location is situated at neighbouring town of Sitiawan and still located within Manjung district , hence I decided to part this here instead of opening another thread.

RM 5.00 / plate, no price increase as per today revisit.

Mee Jawa was superb. Unfortunately the owner decided to discontinue selling. Today was a last day selling. The owner said he was unable to pass the cost to customers ( will hear a lot of harsh words), the best is stop selling it. Consider lucky to try it before the owner stop selling it, unfortunate because it was not available anymore. Got regular customers ordered 2 plate per person today😅. Was selling at RM 5.00/plate.

Went to a Siew Hua Biscuit @ Ayer Tawar. They are selling a few Foo Chow biscuit products which hardly can be found at other places anymore.

1. Foo Chow Bagel ( required fermentation process) , this type Gong Pia is getting rare nowadays because of the additional waiting time for the dough to get fermented.

user posted image

user posted image

The taste was mildly sweet , chewy & more moist compare to the commonly available Gong Pia.

2. Leh Bian

This biscuit appear like Sg Buloh hot plate pancake but the content are more moist like yam texture, gluey, sweet & it contains lard.

Went to Peng Peng Bah Kut Teh not for the BKT but something else. There is a dish they sell here which have been assimilated to the local. It is the Foo Chow style fried pork kidney with the fermented red rice wine. This dish is usually available during the confinement period & usually it is home prepared.

It has been sometimes since I last visited this town. To my surprise, within a short span of time, there are some new modern eatery appearing on after another. Probably due to some of the successful cafes/ eatery, it starts to draw the competitors to get the slice of the cakes.

One of the most recent one, Moh Kee Coffee House. Due to the decoration & set up, a lot of locals & outside ppl crowded this location since December 2022. I managed to visit the location recently because the hype have died down, there are easily 3-4 new alternatives in town namely :-

1) 2 Tigers Kopitiam ( from Ipoh, have branches at KV)
2) Jia Xiang Kopitiam
3) Happiness Old Nan Yang Kopitiam

Ordered their signature dish - braised noodle, kopi ping, french toast.

My rating for Moh Kee Kopitiam are as following:-
1) Taste - 5.5/10. A lot of place can offer similar taste. Nothing stand out.
2) Ambient - 9/10. It was clean, air conditioned & spacious.
3) Price - 3/10. With the surrounding foods selling at almost 1/2 of the price, I don’t see how the demand is sustainable. Locals will come to try 1 off to experience. For repeated customers, I doubt they are willing to spend this money away. The outlet is selling the price almost equivalent to the major city. Tourists don’t come for something they can get easily

It will be a bit difficult for the outlet to sustain.

Breakfast at Jia Xiang Kopitiam . They are one of the new kopitiam outlet in the town.

The curry noodle with stingray fish is quite nice , selling at RM 9.50/pot.

The highlight of the eatery is actually their ang ku kueh. The ang ku kueh is really good. The white coffee taste comparable to Ipoh.

Their food pricing can be on par with food pricing at the Klang Valley.
