Mazda CX-50

just being marketed in the US/Canada region at the moment but seems like the next generation CX-5 would most likely be based on this or would Mazda phased out the CX-5 completely and let CX-50 takes it over (just like what they did with the CX-3, replaced by CX-30).

Dashboard look nice but space storage lacking

Steering light as fukkkk, suspension is soft

driver seat headrest is weird design

Hopefully they improve all this and its pricing

Cx3 was replaced by CX30.

CX30 is sort of a cross between CX3 and Mazda 2/3.

It looks like a half sedan half SUV.

CX5 is Mazda bestseller SUV in Malaysia.

CX50 is not released in Malaysia but I think it will probably replace CX5 in the future.

That plastic wheel trim; not so nice if they overdo it. That’s what I noticed in the CX30. Maintaining the black trim and making sure it doesn’t fade is gonna be a beej.

From what I read online, I think CX50 is supposed to be bigger and more rugged compared to CX5. It's supposed to be longer, wider and has more ground clearance but overall height is a bit lower.

CX-3 is a crossover (competes in the same class has HR-V) unpinning the Mazda2 chassis.

CX-30 is also a crossover but it underpins the Mazda3 chassis - simply, it is a CX-3 but far superior.

same goes with CX-5 and CX-50.

so most likely a crossover suv then

I can still remember, the first day i owned a mazda 6 GJ, bermaz havent launched it yet. i drove 1000km north to Perlis, and got the 1k km service done at kedah. the sc was shocked to see the car was already on the road. so dont ever think if not yet marketed in Malaysia, doesnt mean its not on the road.

Yea it's more or less to each person's preference, for me I quite like mazda interior because its understated and as a driver POV you can see they design little things more ergonomically to suit a driver abit like how they tilt the angle of the screen abit towards you or something.

Tbh if you compare with these premium brands, I actually prefer mazda interior over the likes of merc, imo sometimes they overdo on the looks with too much steel/silver to the point it compromise usability, especially on the centre console buttons and door buttons. Volvo vs mazda, I'm in the opinion that against the likes of like xc40 vs mazda xc40 looks even more basic than mazda to me, both are extremely basic but mazda has some elegance to the basicness (if that makes any sense). Bmw I'm indifferent to it, never really liked the interior it just feels clunky to me based on driving E90 & F10

cx5 is the most overrated suv in msia, damn boring, plain and dated interior, outside looks big but inside cramp like fuark and sell like yahudi

I guess it is just a matter of preference. I prefer Volvo's interior which is why I got it. If you compare the performance and NVH, it is also miles ahead!

Well for performance, comfort and NVH I definitely can't defend mazda, the suspension is abit too stiff and NVH is terrible on the 1st gen kodo design cars haha. Performance also feels sluggish, some reason the car loves to hold high revs and low gears longer than necessary, maybe to save petrol

unless you bought it via grey/parallel import then don't think so shocked is quite the right adjective for your case, more like surprised that someone already bought the car. all Bermaz staffs nowadays are given briefing/training either here locally or send straight to Japan to learn about the product.

if it's not marketed yet then it cannot be bought - you cannot buy something that is not ready to be sold.

the correct phrasing should be "so dont ever think if not yet <strike>marketed</strike> launched in Malaysia, doesnt mean its not on the road."

I hate these kinda car with a passion, mcb i got a car with eps, kimak it's so light that you literally can use ONLY your last finger to drive around town.

Worst part, my that car is not a cheap car, it does adjust la abit abit if speed higher then lesser electronic assist but it feels so "cheap". Next time buy car, as long as steering tarak firm i will straight cut the test drive short already.

a good car in low speed steering is light , when at high speed the steering will become heavy to avoid sudden steer

my house mazda 3 sedan 2.0 is 2016 version, even at high speed the steering is light, damn dangerous feel speeding at 130kmh n above

this is facelift version and will come to msia

might be running parallel like cx3 and cx30 until there isnt demand for cx5. After all cx5 is at RM150K price point currently taking over what previously occupied by d-segment cars.
I belive cx50 would be at Harrier price point which is around RM240K

yes. this cx50 is a different car from the cx5.

yeap, most probably by the mid of next year since the CX5 is already locally assembled and the facelift is just a change of some body panels and minor interior upgrades.

i doubt BERMAZ will bring it in especially more so when considering that it might cannibalize either the CX30 or the CX5 and the cx50 will not be priced at RM240k (point of reference: you can get the CX8 from RM170k-ish)

correct - you can buy a car before it is launched but definitely already marketed

there is a high chance that you will be wrong about the cx5. BERMAZ brought in the "Ignite Edition" of the CX9 which is the "Kuro Edition" and they secretly upgraded the CX5's infotainment screen early this year.

not all MAZDA's are like that (in fact, not even sure if they are of the described characteristics at all) - i've been hearing complaints that the previous generation Mazda3 is noisy etc but never the car feels "floaty".

if the steering of a car feels dangerously light at 130kmph then high chances are:-

1) the tires are over-inflated; or
2) the driver is BS'ing.

not even my 5G Honda City feels that bad at 130kmph

I hope I'm wrong then
