You need to ask if this is not properly stated in the written agreement.

I allowed my tenants to do that on the condition that I will use the deposit money to fixed it back after the lease is over.

But then again as tenant, you need to consider how long are you staying there in the first place and is hanging things on the wall a necessity at all.
