If the number of denied visa increased, I have to say that US can say bye2 to hosting future WCG Grand Finals.

Sad to see so many of our Malaysian's Representative got rejected of their visiting visas to US. Be it their policy or just another way to make people really beg and crawl to gain entry to that country, hope that this lil' problem might be sort out in the future. Well, i have to say US are very insecure, afraid and terrorize that the fact that many people going there and steal their income and work illegally overthere. Free country...my arse... Somehow MALAYSIA RULEZ... we have our hiccups... but well at some cases we're way better than the so called "free land of the future".

u can watch live from WCG TV section from WCG website, VOD service. if you are in USA, you can watch from some famous local TV channels.

Who will be replacing those players that failed to gain entry to US?

its too late for anyone to replace those players who cant get entry to USA. more info can be found in WCG site. It states that, If champion was unable to get visa, then first runner up will replace him, and so on till the one who can get visa.

I dont think its hit me yet, maybe come next week when I'm supposed to be in Seattle, then I'll start feeling emo.

Well this basically what happened the second time round with my visa application:

When my number was called and stepped up to Counter 6, the Consular Officer said, "I see that you were here last week, so whats different from 7 days ago and today? Lets make this fast and get done and over with."

I showed him all my documents, the invitational letters from ICM Korea & Seattle Sports Commission, my employment letter from Online e-Club Malaysia (which stated my salary, the dates I'll be in Seattle, leaving Seattle and when I will resume my work in Malaysia) and even support letters from Valve.

It didnt work.

It seems that if you get denied once, you shouldnt even bother applying again. The reasons given for my rejection was that my salary was too low and that I had limited overseas travel experience, therefore I was marked as having a higher possibility that I will not return to Malaysia. (Basically, according to them, I'm too poor to go visit the United States of America.)

I even showed them my Certificates of Appreciation from ICM Korea, for the WCG Grand Finals 2005 & 2006. Hell, I even showed them the Certificate of Appreciation from the very 1st WCG.MY Championship, which I got way back in 2001.

It didnt work either.

The Consular Officer said, "I have no doubt that you might be the best at being a cyber games referee, or for that matter, a Chief Referee at this World Cyber Games. I also have no doubt that you are going Seattle for your said intended purposes. But unfortunately, you do not meet the criteria that has been set by the United States government and I cannot make an exception and I must be fair across the board and have no choice but to reject your application."

As a referee myself, the irony of this situation, for being "fair", for the lack of a better word, was ironic.

In a last ditch attempt to change the decision, I asked if showing him my bank books would make a difference ...

The Consular Officer said, "Unless you have a 1 million bucks in savings, I'm not even gonna bother."

At least he had the good grace not to laugh when he saw my bank books, and saw just how far off my savings were from "a million bucks".

The thing I dont understand is why did they prevent a gamer like Paul whom has always been carrying the Malaysian flag to WCG Grand Finals when WarCraft III was included in WCG Malaysia and has even gone to San Francisco to represent Malaysia back in 2004? I wouldnt be surprised to hear if there are hardcore fans of the WCG Malaysia winners storm the US Embassy in the next 1 or 2 weeks.

The last player for team Hybrid will be a friend of mine , Nicholas . He doesnt really know alot about professional CS gaming , but he was the only one who had an american visa. It was a desperate call for us , the whole day my team was making calls looking for anyone with a us visa and thats when we found my friend Nicholas. I CANT promise you we'll go far for the WCG Grand Finals. But i promise ill try my best. so looks like im gonna go head downtown seattle guys

Naka reporting from WCG 07 Seattle,

This year's venue is not too bad. There's a practice zone specially for Gamers. Compare with last year.. it's indoor and everything is close to each others, so from what i feel, its better. computer is quite cool, monitor is awesome. anyway, referee shirt this year is funny, its in stripes, black and white. we got yellow card, red card, just that we don't have whistle. lol. one more thing, this year's referee got welcome pack which including a bag, some stuffs and an umbrella!!!! can u imagine that. haha. well, its mainly because it keep raining in seattle.

anyway. There are no photos at the moment, but ya, will upload if i got time.

The hotel this year, no doubt, is COOL. just that the breakfast quite sucky, its just an apple comes with an apple pie with a bottle of water. lol.

Just got a schedule from ICM, but never really check about it. its as thick as a dictionary. lol. so just f*ck it. =p
* will read when get back to hotel of course * haha.

Alright, its time to check some of the computers and do some setup.

just finish...Sky vs Zeus in Warcraft 3...i think it tooks only 15minutes for the defending champion to take out 2 of Zeus heroes and end it..he called the gg...and thats it...

The hotel was pretty sweet but I was amazed at the breakfast... a bottle of water, an apple and a bun of some sort.WTF?
Luckily, they gave us some mcdonalds afterwards and that helped quite a bit.

Sad to say.. I've lost 2 matches and won 1 match and I'm going to go up against apollo soon in half an hour. If anyone is curious, ravana is in a three way tie and so are the pro's in my group, apollo, scorpspamer and styleliga.

JamesFoo lose the stage match against androide. Maybe he was nervous.
But the good news is he qualified to the next stage.

My gawd, the scores are pretty bad.

really sad to repeat the sad case once again.

well, cant really blame msia team. ppl rather going for CGS instead of coming to WCG. so what can we do? there's nth much to do, at least they got a chance to come here and experience on the international stage, and therefore improve themselves.

At the moment, there's nothing much to update here. everything is going smoothly here as well.

Because when US Embassy denied Rico's visa, there's no more time for other players to apply for visa. So, the only solution left for Hybrid is find anybody that have a valid US visa...and knows how to buy guns in the game.

The only thing i am curious about is why they dont want to find other players who is much better?

If i am not wrong, FMJ went to US for their WCG at year 2004. Some of them still playing and i believe they still have visa. They should have sought help from them.

Or at least try looking for a better player and not someone who just owned a visa and knows how to buy a gun. I saw in hybrid website, there are few comments from ppl who knows how to play and has a visa. But in the end, i believe friends come first over skill.

I think there must be other ppl who owns visa with reasonable skills or other clan like FMJ.

Typical Malaysian attitude la you guys. You never know the kind of problems they face. Since CS is a team game its even worse. Imagine 4 players of the team could get visa but the 5th couldn't. Its not like you can go to WCG with only 4 players? In addition to that the nature of the problem itself was that it was so close to the fly date to Seattle, making it that much harder to find other players.

So yeah, you can argue for the fact that there might be other players who have US visas but the crux of the matter was, they did everything they could and for reasons we do not know, they ended up with the person that they could get. In the situation they were in and with the short supply of time, that was the best result that they could acquire.

So since we do not know the full story of their problems (or even if we THINK we know), this doesn't stop us from supporting them because they are representing MALAYSIA. I don't know about you guys but that alone should deem them worthy of your respect. You want better outcome, next year go win the WCG qualifers in Malaysia.
