Samsung 870 EVO all the way.

Samsung has the strictest quality control in the market. They're more expensive than the competition, but you can have a peace of mind that your SSD will perform FAST and RELIABLE for at least 10 years. Plus, Samsung has exceptional after sales warranty support (though you rarely need it because its reliable).

Unless you're really on a budget, you can consider Samsung 870 QVO (not EVO), its their lower tier SSD (QLC type) with a shorter write life cycle.

Don't cheap out on storage, data is important.

My Samseng 850 EVO 1TB failed after 6 months of usage (when first launch, not available in Malaysia yet), had to send all the way back to US (already launched in Malaysia by the time I claim) to claim warranty. rclxub.gif

Samsung of course, no competition

If you want something that's cheaper but still decent, Crucial MX500 also a pretty good choice.

Since you're tight on budget and your laptop is more than 10 years old, I would recommend Silicon Power as it's cheaper than Samsung and it isn't worth to pay premium price for such old laptop .

I also wouldn't recommend buying refurbished laptop since it hardly sustains itself for more than a couple of years based on my own experience. You can opt for debit installment such as Split or Atome if you can't afford a brand new laptop with lump sum payment.

If you mean CC = Credit Card, then no. You don't need credit card for the 3-installment Plan, a valid debit card will do.

i had a pc with linux mint and geforce gpu. migrated from hdd to ssd via dd clone command. everything works fine except the resolution stuck at 800x600 (was 1280x1024). until today, i still have no idea what went wrong. biggrin.gif
