QUOTE(whitesmith @ Nov 9 2021, 10:05 PM) I would like to know currently i bought a few tplink deco mesh, so what type of router can i use, if let say i buy asus router , could it mesh with tplink deco? mainly use for youtube , seldom gaming if you already bought Deco just use it? if you connect other brand of router you can use ethernet cable to connect, set the same wifi ssid and password and your devices can use fast roaming between them. not exactly called mesh anymore. it's best to stick to what you have unless you want to change the whole thing to a different brand. if you need to add more nodes can buy more mesh units, though adding too much is counterproductive.Unifi and pls recommend what good router for my scenario.. tqvm |

Unifi and pls recommend what good router for my scenario.. tqvm First, you can't pair different brand routers/mesh solution. If you bought Deco, then you should stick with Deco. If you bought ASUS, then you should stick with ASUS. Second, not all so called 'mesh-solution-technology' utilize the same implementation just because of the mesh word. Third, if you're a normal user, the Deco series should be sufficient, as it should have two different operation modes, router & access point. You can make the main node as a router, and available slave nodes as slaves. Also, if you opt for a standalone router like ASUS, then plan to use the Deco series, then you can disable the wireless function of the ASUS router, and let the Deco do all the job through access point mode. Hope that helps you. |

Yes. Just disable the wireless function on your stock (original) unifi router, and operate the Deco as an access point. I am using this setup with my Mikrotik router and Deco M5 as an access point. |
