Item(s): Data Abstraction and Problem Solving with Java, Walls and Mirrors, Updated Edition

Package includes: The Book itself

Price: RM 45

Data Abstraction and Problem Solving in Java, and is now updated to the Java programming language. It uses the running theme of "Walls and Mirrors" to help make clear the challenging concepts of recursion (the mirrors) and data abstraction (the walls). Authors Carrano and Prichard cover key object-oriented concepts, including encapsulation, inheritance, and polymorphism. However, the focus of the book remains on data abstraction instead of simply Java syntax.

Features:

* Provides a firm foundation in data abstraction (the walls), emphasizing the distinction between specification and implementation as the foundation for the object-oriented approach
* Offers extensive coverage of recursion (the mirrors) and uses the technique throughout many examples and exercises.
* Introduces analysis of algorithms and Big "O" notation.
* Provides an appendix covering basic Java syntax for those know a different language or who need a refresher
* Contains many pedagogical study aids such as programming pitfall warnings and self-tests with answers
* A proven approach, adapted from the best selling Data Abstraction and Problem Solving in Java

About the Author

Frank M. Carrano is Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Rhode Island.
Janet J. Prichard is a is professor of computer science at East Carolina University. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Rhode Island. Her areas of interest include real-time semantic objects, relationships, and constraints.

Book Description
With the same straightforward and clear writing style that has made previous editions so successful, Understanding Operating Systems, Fifth Edition, provides the ideal blend of operating theory and practice. Coverage includes the fundamentals of operating systems: what they are, what they do, how they function, how they can be evaluated, and how they compare to one another. Part One describes the management of memory, processors, devices, files, and networks as well as system security, ethics, and overall system management. The second part of the book focuses on four specific operating systems (UNIX, MS-DOS, Windows, and Linux) and how they apply the theory explained in the first part of the text. Updates include discussions of new technologies that affect operating system design, including multi-core chips and virtualization, making this edition a current and relevant resource.

About the Author
Ann McIver McHoes has been writing about computers for 25 years including, with the late Ida M. Flynn, the first four editions of Understanding Operating Systems, two of which won awards from the Text and Academic Authors Association. On an adjunct basis, her teaching assignments have included graduate courses at Chatham University and undergraduate classes at Carlow University.

Book Description

This classic book has been revised to further enhance its focus on data abstraction and data structures using C++. In this new edition, the clarity of the C++ language is enhanced, along with coverage of the latest C++ features, including stronger use of the Standard Template Library. This edition continues with Frank Carrano's lucid writing style, widespread use of examples, and flexible coverage of important topics.

Book Info
Illustrates the role of classes and abstract data types (ADTs) in the problem-solving process as the foundation for an object-oriented approach. Covers the major applications of ADTs, such as searching a flight map and performing an eventdriven simulation. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Item(s): Computer Science: A Structured Programming Approach Using C++ ( Hard Cover )

Package includes: The book

Price: RM 45

Picture: user posted image

Product Description :

Book Description
This book, in the words of the authors, "teaches students first how to write good functions, and then how to implement them in classes." Designed for students with no prior programming experience, the book explains each basic principle of programming first in general, language-independent terms, and then discusses how the programming construct in question is implemented in C++. Given this approach, classes are presented in the second half of the text. The book incorporates coverage of software engineering principles and procedures throughout (starting with flowcharts), with each chapter concluding with a discussion of underlying software engineering concepts. Unlike competing books that are too difficult for first-year students, Forouzan and Gilberg take special pains to make their programming examples consistent and easy to read. This careful writing makes this book a solid choice for professors looking for a book that is easy to read and follow, without compromising the material's rigor.

Book Info
Emphasizes good programming concepts with programs and functions that are developed in consistent and readable style. DLC: C (Computer program language).

Product Description
An Introduction to Object-Oriented Programming with Java provides an accessible and thorough introduction to the basics of programming in java. This much-anticipated revision continues its emphasis on object-oriented programming. Objects are used early so students begin thinking in an object-oriented way, then later it teaches students to define their own classes.

In the third edition, the author has eliminated the author-written classes, so students get accustomed to using the standard java libraries.

Also new is the use of smaller complete code examples to enhance student learning. The larger sample development programs are continued in this edition, giving students an opportunity to walk incrementally walk through program design, learning the fundamentals of software engineering. The number and variety of examples makes this a student-friendly text that teaches by showing.

Object diagrams continue to be an important element of Wu's approach. The consistent, visual approach assists students in understanding concepts.

Book Info
Text provides an introduction to object-oriented programming with Java, using numerous diagrams to provide explanations of concepts. Includes new small examples within the chapters and longer examples at the end of chapters. Previous edition: c2000. Softcover. DLC: Object-oriented programming

Product Description
This exciting first edition provides more depth than existing digital design books, using a traditional approach to the subject. Digital Principles and Design contains introductory material in digital principles with emphasis on logic design, as well as more advanced material. With the exception of the digital circuits appendix, it assumes no background on the part of the reader. The text can be used by readers in computer science, computer engineering and electrical engineering.

The emphasis in the book is on the thorough presentation of basic principles of logic design and the illustration of these principles. While many introductory texts only provide the mechanics of classical logic design, Givone provides justifications behind these procedures to give students the understanding they need for the advanced topics they will learn about in subsequent courses. Some of the topics that the book thoroughly presents include: the simplification of Boolean expressions with Karnaugh maps, variable-entered Karnaugh maps, and the analysis and design of both clocked synchronous sequential networks and asynchronous sequential networks.

Every book contains a CD-ROM with Altera’s advanced MAX+plus II 10.1 Student Edition CAD system, as well as Multisim 2001 Textbook Edition from Electronics Workbench. An appendix and the book website provide additional resources on these software tools, as well as LogicWorks.

Book Info
Provides more depth than existing digital design books, using a traditional approach to the subject. Contains introductory material in digital principles with emphasis on logic design, as well as more advanced material. CD-ROM included.
