Hi, Any guidance for the electronic system repair/replace for Merc B180 2009 model giving error about transmission. One mechanic says, gearbox is fine, it's electronic issue, could cost less than 5k ? Is it too high ? Where can I find the price of such system and can it be repaired for lesser cost ? Error message attached. When I drive, seems like gears aren't changing, it stays on gear 1, engine can start, can drive as well, but car is slow to move as if brakes on. After one day, error disappears, but after driving for a while, it re-appears and slows down the car. Error: "Transmission Consult workshop" Thanks. Attached thumbnail(s)

QUOTE(techman007 @ Oct 28 2021, 10:53 AM) Thanks for your reply. Not sure what's OBD ? This is something abit technical for you. OBD is a diagnostic port usually underbeath the dashboard whereby you plug in and read the error codes. Check this link to know the location of the port: https://www.outilsobdfacile.com/location-pl...d/Mercedes-B180And you will need a Bluetooth ELM 427 obd adapter, easy to find in Shopee. And Torque App from Play Store. https://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/index.ph...-please.118418/

Mechanic is asking 3000 recon TCU (i believe that's what he said) and coding 800 and oil 400 and service 4600. Not sure all of that is required. Other shop asks for 3200 for the same (no oil or coding charges).

Not an bensi owner, but hang out alot in workshop that deals with german brands repair. TCU replacement is actually the least of your worry.
What you should do is ask the mechanic to REALLY check if the wiring harness of TCU is shorting anywhere. There is/are reason(s) why the TCU was reporting fault codes when the transmission seems fine. In most instances I have seen, the small wires in the wire loom have compromised insulation along the way.

Did you keep the old "faulty" TCU? if yes, can try send it to someone who knows how to repair ECU/TCU to try repair it. You can call Ang zero-12-2zero3 zero1zero2. ALT Car Services
