Recently I saw someone commented that they flashed their POCO F3 phone to Google Pixel Experience ROM. It seems that with this ROM you can upload your full resolution photos to Google Drive for free...and it mimics a full pixel phone.

I want to ask those who went to this route...ada betul ka? Ada bagus ka ini ROM? Thinking of replacing my aging Huawei P20 PRO with POCO F3 then reflash it Pixel Experience ROM.

Why today so many poco f3 terd?

Not full resolution as in original quality but compressed one which Google call high quality. Dunno if Google already patch it up or not but as long as it thinks the phone is a Pixel, you can get free cloud storage.

Flashing rom can be quite a hassle speaking from experience. Sometimes certain things work then not work. Got error here and there.
If root later banking apps don't work. Even e wallet also picky with custom rom.
Imo if want pixel experience just get a pixel. Used 4xl is still powerful.

Pixel 3 free full quality storage ends at 1st January 2022, any pixel 2019 onwards no full quality backup

Did the next best thing and just flashed pixel experience, so far everything backup at full quality but not sure how long this is gonna last though

I suspect the same unless you setup magisk to hide from those apps

no need pixel experience, just flash module on magisk can get same result
but then after some time, google server side will notice and count the full quality image into your storage

why not? some older hp dont have support after 2-3 years production, even it is still usable

I have this spare 2018 hp 4gb ram SD632 still running great on lineage

if running on stock it stopped at Android 8.1

true. custom rom saves lots of 'unused' phones to be new phones with good usage
even add excitement feels like new UI and also some functions that are limited on brands' own OS

root and flash if you want. let those who dont undertsand keeps barking at the trees

I mean, it is understandable to recycle those 1GB ram with 8/16gb hp , but unlike apple ecosystem which have a quite long support with its hp, most of the android hp wont be getting any update after 2-3 years of production

and some good features only available on newer update. so yes, one of the way to save these hp is by running on custom rom

Just get thr ROM if you want a pixel experience, but if you want the advantage of google photo using this rom, forget it.

Buy a Pixel 5 (ayam using one), it's the Latest Pixel with Unlimited 'Storage Saver' option for Google Photo. Even Pixel 6 dont have that advantage anymore

why don't u just subscribe to 5tb one drive family plan? 5tb for just rm100+ yearly only. u can use any phone, upload all ur pics, saves u the hassle & headache of flashing custom rom.

Actually the photo thingy is not my main requirement.

I just wanted a plain vanilla Android phone, a good one that is.

I absolutely love my Huawei P20 Pro, but eventually I will need to change the phone to something else. Phones like OPPO and VIVO are strange territory to me. Used Redmi and Mi phones before and honestly, I hated their customization.

Somehow Samsung phones doesn't appeal to me. Perhaps is the choice of fonts they use on most of the Samsung phones I see.

So when someone mentioned that they can flash a cheap Poco F3 with Pixel Experience, that naturally piques my interest.

I don't game on my phone. I just use it mainly for work and communications and takes lots of photos with it.

If you’re still sticking with h20 pro, then just grab cheaper device like poco f1 with flashed rom or just the og pixel. Install syncthing on both devices and you’re good to go
All those gigabytes or terabytes of raw pics or 4k vids can be backup for free especially if you’re photographer.
