: Hello Friends biggrin.gif

I’ve been using my new reno 6 5g for the past couple of weeks now and I’ve really enjoyed it. So, I thought I’d try to write a review of the Oppo reno 6 5g. After all I’ve not nothing to do and nothing to lose from doing so… but I’ll finally be able to try my hand at writing about tech. Read with caution as its my first time doing something like this.

First off, let me just say that it is – BEAUTIFUL rclxm9.gif . Obviously, I was attracted by its aesthetics, which is fair, after all the Reno Glow holds multiple patents. Other than being absolutely drop dead gorgeous, the reno glow is finger print proof which saves us the worry of the back of the phone getting smudged by prints. The phone comes in 2 colours, Stellar Black and Aurora Blue. Inspired by the northern lights, the Aurora Blue changes colours when looked at different angles thanks to Oppo’s new Diamond Spectrum Process. The phone comes with a standard transparent jelly phone casing, that perfectly showcases the phones’ beautiful design while sufficiently protects the phone from impacts and scratches.

Besides aesthetics, the phones’ performance is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 900 that comparable to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G. For those unfamiliar with these terms, it basically means that thanks to the processor used, users can enjoy playing high-end games and going about daily multitasking on their phones smoothly. Personally, this is one of my favourite features as it is well suited to my lifestyle and habits. I was quite spoiled after having used the Reno 4 ( Which was ridiculously fast for me as I’ve suffered from slow phones for the past few years) for the past pandemic years, so moving to a new phone really worried me. I’m the type to go from one app to another quite avidly as I do a portion of my work on the phone, so moving between gaming to docs to whatsapp and back to games it a regular thing. The Reno 6 5g holds up quite well on these aspects, which is impressive considering the price point. ohmy.gif

The battery life of the phone is quite good. I went about 2 days of not charging it when using for web browsing, IM-ing and calls. However, when I was actively gaming on the phone (ROX : Next Gen, Klondike, Candy Crush) on top of the other tasks, the battery averaged for about 1 day. The charge is also quite fast, it takes about 40 mins to fully charge it when its left to idle alone, or just under an hour if you’re using the phone while charging thanks to the SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging protocol.

As for the camera, it features a 64MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide angle camera, 2MP macro camera, and 32MP selfie camera. Along with these is are: a Colour Temperature sensor that gives a better colour accuracy, a OPPO Exclusive Image clear Engine which helps the camera focuses faster for those in the moment shots, and last but definitely not least, it has an ultra clear 108 MP image whereby the users can zoom into their photos with the clarity maintained.

Personally, I love how the camera captures and processes colour. It adds fantastic vibrance and warmth to each picture, which helps every day people capture our everyday moments well. I love to cook, and food is a big part of my life. While I don’t post much on social media about the food I cook or eat, I still do snap pictures to remember my meals. This phone helps me vividly remember my meals almost as though I could taste it.

If I have any cons to comment on this phone, it would be some small critiques. Firstly, on the front camera. Whilst the main camera balances colours well, the selfie cam on the reno 6 5g still struggles with skin tones, it makes people fairer. I experienced the same with my Reno 4 but of course, from then it has been slightly rectified on the Reno 6. However, this is less of an issue when shooting a selfie photo with the bokeh flare portrait mode.

Another comment would be the push notifications by the ‘ Theme Store’ and a hot apps folder that I can’t uninstall or delete. These are due to the ColourOS 11.3 software used in all the Reno range. While those push notifications can get quite annoying, the software itself is fantastic. I would go as far to say that it is the reason why I enjoy the Oppo brand so much, it is its stand out from other brands ( personally felt like its better than Huawei’s HiSuite). For the mid-range price, I always felt like I was using a high range phone. Honestly, the software really elevates the user experience.
All in all, it obviously, it isn’t for everyone especially if you’re used to high range phones, the Oppo Reno 6 5g should not be compared to its Pro elder brother or its Find X3 cousin.

However, I would definitely recommend the phone for those looking for a mid-range/mid-priced phone with a good quality main camera and fantastic user experience.
