Hi!

I have a Apple Watch Series 3 bought 2017 (4 years old already) that's not turning on or charging anymore.

Holding down both buttons (hard reset) will show the apple logo for about 1 sec, before disappearing again then zero response.

Went to Machines, they say cannot repair, ask me buy new one instead....

My questions:

1. Can recommend any shop/place that can repair the watch? I'm thinking it's probably a battery problem.
2. Estimated cost of repair and is it worth repairing?
3. How old is your Apple Watch that you are still using? (to get an idea of a typical lifespan of an apple watch)
4. Aside from telling time and health (steps/heart rate/etc) tracing, the most useful and frequently used feature that i like is the ability to unlock my phone when wearing mask. Are there any other watches or bluetooth device that can unlock our phone in a similar manner?

Thank you all in advance!

I’m surprised machines ask you to buy a new one, normally they would at least refer you to their service center..

1. Where is your area? KL/PJ/?
2. Depends on what’s the issue, if it’s battery replacement then should be within 200-300, if it’s motherboard or chipset related then maybe just get a new one
3. I had a S3 given to my cousin and still going strong, bought it at launch..using S5 also bought it at launch, still in great condition
4. Just like you, I like the unlock while wearing mask, and also get prompted on emails and other notifications. But mostly use for workout…not sure of any other devices that can offer the same, as it synchronizes to our iPhones I think the best is Apple Watch.

Was surprised too... I went to Machines KLCC, they told me Apple watches cannot be repaired. Offered me the option of paying RM929 for a S3 without box/strap/etc... apparently this is the normal "repair/exchange" option they offer customer...then she mentioned might as well buy a new S3 for RM8XX BNIB since it's offered on sale versus the RM929 "repair/exchange" option

1. I'm in Puchong but Klang Valley anywhere should be ok
2. 200-300 for the battery replacement? If i'm not tied in to the apple ecosystem, i would probably get one of those Huawei Band 6 (but i will miss the unlock phone feature)
3. Good for you! As for me, starting early this year (3 year old ++), the battery already cannot sustain 1 full day of use, charge overnight, morning 7-8am start wearing, evening ard 5 already no more batt...
4. The new S6 or S7 cost ard 1.7k... Assuming on my wrist/lifestyle it'd only last 3-4 years.... hmm... really makes me think twice... sigh....
