u are half correct, yes it depends on qualifications, but it also largely depend on what job the applicant is working
for those professional or creative or jobs that give an "impact" to SG economy, then it would be much easier to get a PR
2 of my friends, 1 engineer and the other working in IT industry have no problems getting PR, its even offered to them after working in SG for few years,
so yeah, it really depends on what job u are doing, and for sylvia's company, its in the media and creative industry. she can just give an 'impactful' job position (such as creative director etc) to her brother, and coupled with his qualificationz, he can easily get his PR
but of course now its exposed that the job position his brother is holding is a fraud and its created solely to cheat the SG government and get his PR, dont think the SG government will let her off lightly
Well if qualifications good, PR pretty much secured anyways. And ive seen people with basic job titles getting PR although not too sure about the creative industry. There is more emphasis on PMETS. I know quite a few creative directors not getting their PR ... More specifically because art degree worth shit in SG.
But regardless, sg gov wont really bother much on his case especially he will be contributing to cpf. The whole point of qualification being the main decision maker is so that he will continue to be employed and contribute to tax and CPF. As long as his qualifications are legit then it's a one eye closed. There's really no true benefit in being a PR in SG apart from job seeking advantage. Infact he will be giving 20% of his income to the sg gov to keep.
As for sylvia then it will be another matter but the worst punishment is usually just not allowed to employ foreigners. As you can see, both of are a double win for sg gov.
