I just subscribed to Unifi & now want to use my old corded phone with it.
Can i still use my old wiring (from Streamyx time)?
How to connect them?
There are two phones at different location.

you can plug any phone to the same port used on the modem. There are some incompatibilities that can cause the sound to be a bit off on older analog phones.
If you want to connect multiple phones, you will need a rj11 hub (one that shares wiring together) or you can wire one yourself as the tools are cheap and you can grab a bar of rj11 ports or rj45 ports. |

Just take out the cordless phone and plug the corded phone to the modem. The old copper line will not work anymore.

not sure how's ur current phone wiring done. but this is correct. just use a splitter, connect to the modem. upstairs and downstairs can also pickup phone call. This post has been edited by Rainings: Oct 16 2021, 12:13 PM |

QUOTE(Reeson @ Oct 16 2021, 11:57 AM) yes but i would like to use two phones if possible length depends on cable standard and protocol used. ethernet over rj11 cat5 is 100Mb/s up to 100meters. So really for phones i depends on the cable quality since it uses analog. if the power comes from modem for the phone, the cable must be full copper.anyway, the rj11 cable from the modem to the phone, how long can it go? this is because my modem is upstairs but the phone is downstairs. can it go about 30 metres without problem? |

only short range rj11 only. it is because the power supply from your BTU is weak. back in the day on the old PSTN, you can feel geli2 when touching the naked rj11 wire because the voltage quote high which is supplied from the telephone's exchange
