QUOTE
For users who will be inevitably involved in this exercise, TM lists some of the services that may be affected, including non-cloud-based CCTVs, server hosting services, and online multiplayer games hosted by the customer. The migration will be implemented in stages, which apparently began in mid-September 2021, with expectations for the exercise to be completed in January 2022.

so means, those older DVR that using traditional routing wont work ? hmm.gif

also means cant use locally hosted multiplayer game over the internet and VPN ?

I wonder if other providers will follow this..

since this will affect 10mbps/ 30mbps and 100mbps, so means those at higher plan tak kena ?

complain to SKMM if they do this you because this not what you pay for.

either they reduce your sub price or they let you have a choice of public / private ip.

It's not just games, even business applications like video conferencing software may not like CGNAT.

There are also no unifi plans for 300mbps and above without TV.

Sigh.

more layman term is ..any hosted games that host wont lag (consistent <5ms) ; but client will have delay/lag (>25ms++)

will have issue once using private ip

As IP address has been exhausted, ISP will use address translation called CGNAT (Carrier Grade Network Address Translation). Well, this is nothing new. Even in 1st world countries are also having these. Like some say, the ISP should reduce rate because they can serve more customer with no additional cost on IP addresses.

Major side effect would be you cannot have port forward or have anyone connect directly to your computer without using a VPN. sad.gif

too bad ipv6 is very controversial topic, even more controversial than removing flash player on all machines, y2k, meltdown/spectre, windows 11 require TPM module, ransomware etc, this is whole different level of beast
organization/government of the world could not just mandate all device must be ready by this date when we got organization and country that have large IP allocation saying why we must follow?

Just another TM way to force their decision down consumer throat. Monopoly is king. Subscribe to 300Mbps just for that NAT they must be dreaming.

I think they know most CCTV users are on lower bandwidth packages. Why do you even need 300 or 500 Mb to stream cctv security footage? In the long run the options are:

1) switch ISP provider who does not have such ridiculous policy
2) use a cloud base cctv

Yes. I've been depending on my hard wired security DVR for many years to protect the home.
Looks like will go "blind" until I can invest on a good cloud security camera sad.gif
