highly likely, you subscribe to whatever dynamic dns service will not help you unless you have public IPv6 ip address instead.

Dont see the big deal. Ipv6 is already there.

If you are not competent enough to utilize ipv6 then thats user problem.

Does nothing to average users.

Could be problem for non cloud based CCTV.

I'm going to install CCTV, so I guess it means I have to go for cloud based unit.

nothing. You have to be fairly it literate to actually benefit from public ip.

If you don't know what is public/private ip then good news it wont affect you in any way.

Thanks.

Would it affect CCTV with base station?

Other than CCTV, average user like me shouldn't worry much right?

Thanks. That's a relief.

It would not affect my normal internet usage like browsing, VPN to office network, TV subscription and etc right?

it will affect any person who utilizing their internet as a "server" of sort (i.e able to response to incoming request/connect) this include, but not limiting to setting up a local VPN, say you want to access to your home PC or whatever within your home network while you are away from home, you can do it via VPN and/or some port forwarding from you router/gateway as it has a public IP which technically an address that is recognize by the whole world.

so without a public IP, things like VPN, parts of torrent protocol and etc might not work (unless they have a way to do forwarding).

on the flip side. outside world cannot direct access to your gateway/router using an (public) IP anymore as your network is beside the ISP NAT.

Depend what CCTV model you using I guess. You probably have to talk to your CCTV installer/supplier about this.

well alot people didnt aware they are utilizing those public IP until they are not longer being able to use those service.
TM should at least allow people to have public IP on request la, doesnt matter if is considered as value-added chargeable service or not.

Im connected to AP extension on my home network. Not bothered to set ipv6 since this is just wifi i use to browse while berak in toilet. (Asus router requires some manual setting to get ipv6 working while in dumb AP mode)
But my main router got.

you can connect to other peers with the help of trackers, but the other peers cant connect to you.
make sense?
simple term, you will be limited to number of peers that you can connect because the other might be having the same situation as you (other peers cant connect to them)

you just imagine private ip address stands for there is 1 additional layer of network/intranet before expose to external

example:

your device ip address is 192.168.1.3 ; 192.168.1.13

then next is direct your public ip address which is viewable by everyone (eg: 60.50.xx.xx)

whenever you want see your hosting service punya content..just type 60.50.xx.xx:portnumber:/admin/

then thing will works

------------------------------------
but now with private ip

your device A ip address is 192.168.1.3 ; B 192.168.1.13

then next is unifi private ip (eg: customer A 172.30.30.5 ;customer B 172.30.30.10)

then only sampai public ip which viewable by everyone (eg: 60.50.xx.xx)

you will have more difficulty if you plan to access hosted service from external. Because after masuk to 60.50.xx.xx they dunno the next level routing
