Any serious student of modern guitar recording technology is already well schooled in the merits of Line 6's acclaimed POD(R) series of digital amp and effect modelers. Dual engines
The addition of dual engines already puts POD X3 in a class of its own. The internal routing in POD X3 allows players to play a single guitar through two different amp and effect signal chains simultaneously-opening up new frontiers in hybrid tones, parallel effects, dual amps, and stereo imaging of sounds. In addition, its dual inputs include both 1/4" and XLR options, affording players the option of singing through a vintage mic preamp and playing guitar through a high-gain amp at the same time, with each signal benefiting from an independent processing chain. Want to record two instruments at once? Dual engine processing allows you to jam with your bass player direct to your DAW, with you rocking a model of a boutique amp with wah, delay, and fuzz, while he plunks out the roots through a classic '70s bass rig emulation. If all that sounds like it requires some complex programming or crazy routing schemes, think again. The POD X3's newly designed user interface makes it easier than ever for players to expertly shape their tone and configure signal paths. With a larger LCD screen, you can see the entire signal chain at a glance; and even when you're deep into the editing zone, you're never more than one editing page away from any amp, effect, preset, or control parameter. What is Dual Tone?
Dual Tone processing is like having two full POD products in one with complete control over both tones. You can use the Dual Tone processing together by splitting your guitar signal and playing through two full virtual rigs - with full control over the amps, cabs and effects. Or you can use a completely independent single tone on two different instruments at the same time. You could have guitar and vocals, guitar and bass, or any other combination using the 1/4" instrument and XLR microphone input.
What instruments can I use POD X3 with?
POD X3 has amp, preamp and effect models that are ideal for electric guitar, acoustic guitar, bass and vocals. However, you can use POD X3 with keyboards or even mic up other acoustic instruments using a microphone via the new XLR input.
Can I purchase additional Model Packs for POD X3?
No, there's no need. POD X3 comes fully loaded with 78 guitar amps, 24 guitar cabs, 98 effects, 28 bass amps, 22 bass cabs, and 6 mic preamp models. Each model from every model pack available for PODxt is already part of POD X3's standard model set.
Does Line 6 plan to release modeling updates for POD X3 in the future?

What sonic improvements does POD X3 have over PODxt?
While the model set in POD X3 is based on the amps and effects from PODxt, we redesigned many of the models to take advantage of improved components in POD X3 including its more powerful processors and converters - resulting in what we believe is a new level of clarity and sonic definition.
Can I use the guitar and XLR inputs at the same time?
Yes. POD X3 allows you to use two inputs simultaneously. You can even have completely independent processing on each input.

How do I connect POD X3 Live to a PA or sound system?
POD X3 Live has balanced XLR and 1/4-inch outputs, so you can plug directly into a PA without a Direct Box.
What's the S/PDIF output used for?
The S/PDIF output jack on the back of the POD X3 and POD X3 Live allows for a direct digital connection to a ProTools rig, or other recording interface that accepts a digital connection.
How do I use the programmable Effects Loop on the POD X3 Live?
The Effects Loop is accessible directly from the POD X3 Home Page, alongside the other Effect Blocks (Amps, Stomps, etc.) Select the Effect Loop icon. Then, double-click the edit button to control the Send and Return Levels, Mix, and Pre/Post Config (before or after the Amp model).
What is the Comp/Boost button, and what's it used for?
The factory presets are programmed to let you use the Comp/Boost switch to quickly add compression or boost your volume for solos. However, you can also assign the footswitch to turn On or Off your Amp Model or Reverb effect on that preset tone.
How do I adjust the 'feel' or resistance of the POD X3 Live expression pedal?
POD X3 Live includes an Allen wrench, so you can increase or decrease the resistance of the pedal to your liking. You can even snap the wrench into a slot on the bottom of the pedal, so you can adjust it whenever you want.
What operating systems can I use with POD X3?
Windows(R) XP, Windows Vista (32 bit) and Mac(R) OS X (10.4.9 or later).
How do I restore factory presets?
Press and hold the 'Home/Hold For Commands' button, select 'Reset User Presets' and press the 'Save' knob to reset the User bank to its factory presets.
