I am looking to improving my communication skills so I was thinking in joining a public speaking club.

I have been to toastmaster international but the fees abit steep for me.

Can anyone else here recommend one?

You can just join and utilities and pratice for a year and don't continue after that.

But the bad side is now all virtual presentation very hard to learn/practice public speaking body gesture and also stage fright.

But toastmasters is more toward improving public speaking and presentation.. not much on communication skills because is you talking, ppl listen.. not much of 2 way communication

I don't get it why need to pay ? If 20 yr ago maybe no choice but now .....

But it's still helps build confidence, and ability to articulate on thinking what to say. I find it helpful to improve communication for public speaking.

I know there are tons of toastmaster, don't mind travel far but would be nice if someone can intro to me.

Err.. there is professional people to evaluate your performance? which means they do get paid for helping other people to improve on public speaking

There are some big company have toastmaster program that allow employee come to join.

20 years ago makan, now no need makan?

Joined before TM club in Puchong for about 1 year. Can be quite good, especially should join their table topics in meetings if you want to train your ability to talk spontaneously. But, what I don't like is that the older members tend to push you commit to more and more extra activities like becoming committee members and to organise toastmaster activities.

So yr saying paid one result must be better then those free resources ? Last I check majority of famous speaker dint join TM and yet u see the result.

Bro. You need to clarify your misunderstanding. We don't get paid to evaluate your performance and helping people.

All members are helping / joining club activities on a volunteer basis
You can have a level 1 TM evaluating a level 5 DTM as well. If you want to have a professional evaluation to be done then TM club is not suitable for you

Nowday all online meeting no need travel to join toastmasters. Maybe try ask in the toastmasters fb for virtual meeting.

Why people join because not every time u talk ppl wanna listen but in toastmasters they create this time and the ppl willing to listen to you talk. And also give feedback on how to improve and so on .

I only finish the first CC get my cert then I dropped because I felt that I learn enough. So depend on how high u wanna go.

And look nice in your CV too ahahaha

But beware. Some club they have those super senior toastmasters already urge to talk non stop. You need to be very activly participate on every topic. Else u be sitting there listen to ppl only.

all public Toastmasters clubs will need to pay fees to Toastmaster International in USD, this is a must.

With that, you maintain your membership as a Toastmaster and you get exclusive learning books on speaking and leadership skills.

Also joining the club, you get a chance to become club officers, all clubs welcome newer members to learn and become club officers.

You also get certifications for each level or major you completed, straight from USA.

if you maintain your membership and able to get the highest achievement in Toastmasters, DTM https://www.toastmasters.org/education/dist...hed-toastmaster this is a big plus to your resume.

Whichever public toastmaster club is near to you, just join the club.

There are also private in-house clubs, which are usually based on the company it was based on. The company usually fully sponsored the membership to their own employees.
