I am not looking for purchase tbh. Just a gathering (virtually) to share on the old tech era and one day in future see the computers on display for a bit of nostalgic fun.

I personally own an Athlon XP and a Duron before. tongue.gif

Me.

I have both an Atari 520STFM and Apple Macintosh SE/30.

The Atari is still alive after 30 plus years so I would rather restore it. The Macintosh is flat dead.

Unfortunately, parts for the Atari are mostly from Europe so shipping costs are high.

Wow that's a treasure! Last I seen them in 'action' was a shop or two near the Imbi Plaza central escalator haha.

Which part of the Atari are you looking to restore? Just found out that yellowed plastics can be whitened but the steps look tedious haha.

The 520SFTM needed new caps, power supply, RAM upgrades, and updated ROM from TOS 1.02 to TOS 1.04 to keep the STFM compatibility.

At the same time, I'm also looking for 520STE and hopefully someday, the Falcon030.

I see. No wonder, that's a fair bit of things to be replaced.

I hope you are able to find the Falcon, that guy's harder to find than a Jaguar set.

Play Retro also leher patah....

Btw, i found this not too long ago...it's a goldmine....Retro ROMS collection and magazines and just about everything else.

https://archive.org/

For retro games ROM collection, there are many, but i like the collection made by one "Ghostware"

Search for "Ghostware Playstation ROM Collection" etc.

Very good.

I have a stack of EGM and CGW magazines from the 80s and 90s. Those old enough should know what magazines I refer to. XD

Sometimes I download some PDFs of these to read for nostalgia haha. Lost most of the PC magazines, but strangely kept newspaper (the Star intech) game reviews lol.

As for retro PC, I was too late to experience 8-bit computing, only started touching PCs with 8086/8088 and Pentium MMX later, so my nostalgia is around these parts. Old hardware need a lot of recapping though. For most users it is indeed more hassle than is worth to setup and troubleshoot, unless you are determined for authentic and sometimes painful experience then old hardware can be fun.

I fall into the Vogons rabbit hole sometimes and planning builds is more fun than actually using them after everything is installed and good to go. I mostly keep an old rig for 3dfx / 3D accelerated api games and old soundcards for OPL3/MIDI and EAX, still looking for an Aureal 2 card.. Idk it makes me excited to see beige PCs lol, I know it seems like unsightly e-waste to most people. That said, I don't think I will keep anything around P4-C2D era.

Unless got space to store them just for collection purpose. Nobody want the huge CRT monitor anymore and those old x86 series of computer you cannot play any modern games on it and can't run any modern software and OS with it.

Reminder me of my old 386 computer with those big 5.25" floopy disk.

To be fair maintaining the CRTs are the biggest challenges lol. But any electrical engineering folks like LGR can handle it bah, just see if got the passion or not.

Anyway bumping this up so hoping to find more like-minded folks and start a mini-event like the video I posted earlier in this thread.

I actually want to buy that Zx Spectrum Next, but it's only like kickstarter and produce in batch. I missed the last boat, dunno when they make again...quite reasonable price around RM2k...probably cheaper than getting an ancient C64 or Amiga which probably won't work... sweat.gif

Why not get the new remake Commodore 64 which I think run 64-bit too. Got USB and HDMI.
