Interesting thread. Read a few comments and went online to google FIRE then found out as much as 6 or more types of FIRE.

Been trying to figure out which FIRE I am in. I guess I am just Regular FIRE. Not LEAN not FAT just Regular. Not exciting...

But on a side note, even though now I retire in Malaysia, I fear for Malaysia's future considering the political environment. Currently my assets are 75% in Malaysia and only 25% overseas. I am tempted to move more to overseas but stopped because of the low ringgit and the fact money in overseas harder to manage. My FDs in China being one of them... Also overseas portfolio harder to pass on to my beneficiaries should I one day unfortunately demise.

But I guess eventually I might start moving more to US market, easier to YOLO should I decide one day to migrate to another country.

US stock market been going up to near 52 weeks high with some stocks back to all time high. I exited my position before the NVDIA and Tesla rally... kicking myself since. Now waiting for a big crash which analysts keep saying will happen but never does. I guess I am just happy getting 4.5% return from IBKR...

Jackie Chan tulan his char siew drug addict son and already says won't leave him his $400million+

How can anyone take Jackie Chan seriously, I doubt he even has a proper Will. When his son released from prison the mother already bought him several properties and she is rich.

The problem is never those with children but claims not to give children. Unless a solid Will drafted, the children wife etc can always challenge later.

The problem is with those with no kids. Some of my friends facing this problem don't know who to give when they gone since they have no kids. Don't be surprised so many properties and money in the bank no one claims because of this problem. And it is hard to ask them to spend the money by flying first class etc. They have comfortable life but will not go all out to spend like Jho Low, for example.

Wow, I just realised other than GOLD, BTC had also doubled up by alot since 2021.
If only I hv the foresight and guts to liquidate all my other savings/assets/saving plan insurance into them.
Bet BIG to WIN BIG. 👍👏
Hmm... assuming you are earning rm100k per month from a 4% fixed return from bond, FD etc... Would you still liquidate them to invest? Some goes investment by ratio etc, in the end I guess it's what makes one able to sleep well at night. Especially those who have not seen their portfolio drop by 75% etc to say why I never buy before.

I know of people who have stable jobs, nothing financially to worry, they put their savings into high yield stocks and got lucky. Earning enough to retire comfortably (say above rm4m). You think how many of these people will put their rm4m all in or into a ratio into yet high risk assets? Assuming they are around retirement age already with no pending financial committments aside from medical or emergencies.

When one FIRE already, I think the kick to chase more money would be lower especially knowing your current assets enough to substain you comfortably (say rm4m and above).

Side question, I still don't know how to buy BTC in Malaysia. Anyone to recommend trusted platform to buy BTC like IBKR? confused.gif
