QUOTE(icemanfx @ Jul 25 2022, 11:43 AM) After retirement, unless staying with children, one or two bed room apartment would be sufficient for most people. Rental of these types of unit are plentiful. would you rent your apartment to a frail looking 70 year old man?

QUOTE(zstan @ Jul 25 2022, 11:53 AM) i don't doubt the abundance of these units. it's the moving that is the pain. unless we have super professional house movers like Tokyo that will take care from A-Z for you then can consider. dunno ler, my family said landlord don't like to rent to single old people.... risk of dying in their unit... so owning a place, even if single .. is important lo.... Although I am inclined to rent , but as I get older, I do see their point.... This post has been edited by Chrono-Trigger: Jul 26 2022, 07:36 PM

QUOTE(trumpkampung @ May 21 2023, 10:15 AM) Not sure shall i FIRE or not? Age 45.. 1.6Mil kwsp 1.5mil ASM All paid off Solo is enough But if got wife children , hard to tell. Sometimes kids come back to haunt you with their financial problems. Easy to say won't leave anything to children, but when children have problem in their life, parents will never abandon them, and will fork out money to help. QUOTE(batman1172 @ May 21 2023, 02:33 PM) Can but don’t. It is time to do things you enjoy while making money. I thought as much, probably cut down on work hours or negotiate with boss with voluntary cut in salary and working hours.

wanna ask, have you guys considered medical inflation and private insurance increasing cost that will eventually eat into your FIRE, or you have decided to go government hospitals for future care and let life takes its course ?

QUOTE(Wedchar2912 @ Mar 23 2025, 04:20 PM) yes, did factor this in and in my financial planning, also allocated an emergency pot to either top up or cover medical expenses beyond medical card. I figured I should be happy to pay for my medical card (inclusive of fee inflation of the card) until i reach 70 thereabout. and the pot should be able to cover some what a few normal "medical" emergencies. After this, if not "rich" enough anymore, I will go queue at klinik kesihatan and GH... hopefully kkm 1rm still available. Its the above 70 years old medical card fee that I worry I cannot cover (but hope I am wrong). The good thing is that my current monthly budget expenditure for the family is very comfortably below the traditional SWR of 3% life so unpredictable
