50% increment ? not forget pressure/workload might also 50% up  whistling.gif

he is already in a toxic place where he says he has no time, so if the new place also toxic at least he gets 50% more

QUOTE(Watta?? @ Aug 16 2023, 04:03 PM)
bro, my intentions are not to to jump ship and chase employment income, what im chasing is some time freedom and not be tied down to a corporate job
well the point is i don't enjoy what im doing and i don't want to jump to another environment and end up doing the same thing
my current company is already my second company that im holding this same position, same jobscope, same projects on hand, etc
so i can say that it's not really about the employer, its more of the work im doing that i don't enjoy and don't see any point in carrying on other than for the identity i've created for myself
*
Well earlier on you said you were fed up with your boss and can't wait to show your middle finger to him.

Normal people with real stories would already jump ship at an opportunity with 50% increment, I have no idea how you lose an identity when you are actually paid 50% more?

btw - maybe you are not that busy as you think you are, you seem to be able to write long posts in kopitiam during office hours. At least that's not too bad, I have friends who have no such time to even browse here during work hours.

we have different views bro.. no point arguing further
anyway since when did i say im busy? that was the past where i worked my ass off..
i guess you've never had someone hold you by the balls, had money owed to you and couldn't do anything about it, with both hands tied

btw.. would you jump ship for an extra 10k a month to work your ass off further?
or would you rather get 300k?
simple maths bro.. work an extra 2 and a half years with the increment?
or just soldier through a little more and wait for the payout?
even an idiot can answer that
*
Nah man, no arguing. Just trying to get your story straight so I can understand better

So all those biweekly job offers and headhunting actually told you that you will actually work more?

You mentioned about you wanting 'time freedom' so I thought that's what you needed.

What's this about 300k suddenly?

You mentioned about 'extreme toxicity, politics, backstabbing and betrayal by the owners of your current company', just by this alone any idiot would jump ship lah at any offers, especially if 50% increment. So tell us a little further why aren't you jumping?

EDIT: Ok just saw about the 300k. So when exactly will you be paid this bonus? No contract? And you mentioned you've been betrayed before, so you trust you will be paid?

Also I take it your salary is 20k since 50% is 10k.

QUOTE(Watta?? @ Aug 16 2023, 04:54 PM)
bro.. do you think im an open book on the internet? u ask i say lo.. ask abit more i say abit more lo.. trust or not up to you, i got nothing to hide
lets see if you will call this story a bluff again
23-27 worked my ass off as an auditor
27-29 negotiated a deal with my previous employer to be promoted to c-level upon completion of a 120mil project, done it, got what was owed to me and felt bored after that
29-now was desperate for a change in environment so i negotiated and moved to this company with mostly verbal commitments, took up the offer without putting it down in black and white (dumbass young me trusting people too easily  bangwall.gif ), completed similar project but this time was 250mil this year, after completion of project feeling extremely bored running day-to-day operations now

so the bonus payout for this current company was to be 300k but the economy took a turn and bosses using this as excuses to delay my payment, so would you stay and get the 300k? or jump for the extra 10k a month and work 2.5yrs just to get back the same amount?

point is that i don't have the flexibility to run around doing my own things because im bound by working hours that i need to be in the office from 8am-6pm, even when i have the money, i don't have time to take leave to go holiday with my wife since stupid chinaman company only gives 8 days per year following labour law

so my skillset i talk about is handling these sort of projects, high in demand in the current market and since i have 2 successful completion under my belt, this is why i get calls often..
i also mentioned that i could do consultancy work on the side instead of being employed, so that is an option for me in the future if i do need to return to it

but end of the day, after so many years and 2 successful projects under my belt, i can assure you that i do not enjoy the work associated with it
yeah.. what a dumbass young me.. getting played in the corporate world trusting people too easily..
well.. lessons are to be learned along the way..

Ah, I see. Thanks for the explanation.

So your bosses that are toxic, and have betrayed you before, do not have anything in writing to say they owe you 300k.

Good luck with that buddy thumbsup.gif

Let us know how it goes if and when you get your bonus.

Ohhh sorry missed your reply earlier, yup I do have a mentor that I work closely with on my issues faced at the moment, he's been great help to me since my early career days until what I've achieved today.

Definitely I know the owners are playing games, now it's just a chess game to see who makes the next move and what it is. Cash flow wise definitely not a problem with projects that size, it is just the corporate game being played which I'm sick and tired of only

As for financial wise, Im doing fine myself, I've met multiple private bankers/fund managers/financial advisors but none of them able to confidently give me advise on what to do to outperform what I'm getting now since 10-20% is on the conservative side, the run up from early this year till now basically doubled my portfolio and cashed out partially to my war chest waiting to be redeployed.

10-20% returns on the conservative side? Wahlau

Pls dm me your finance advisers

No need for dms, no secret here, basically I'm 80% in US tech stocks, 20% in other stocks with a high beta.

Because I can really take risk and stomach losses, this has paid out for me significantly.

Even if you had 10-20% of your portfolio in meta/nvda/msft/aapl/goog, these sort of returns shouldn't be too surprising.

For others, I do get some deals for local public listed company private placements at 10% discount from market rate or private placements for ipos from my bankers. So those are easy returns for me, but not everyone has access to these deals though

Okla your definition of conservative very different from mine

After he’s done PM/DM’ing you, please private message me too. 20% conservative returns, I don’t mind swapping SGD for RM and using that to invest before swapping back. Hehehe.

Hi forumers,

Need your opinion if I can achieve FIRE with below numbers.
In other words, can i quit my main job (salary 1 in below).
I have 2 small kids currently at the age of 7.
I have accumulated this much of wealth and quite worn out with my current job.
What could be the best strategy to move forward with this status.

Saving & Investment
Saving in FD : 200k  ( 4.0 % pa return )
Saving in Current Acc. : 250k (i keep there to reduce interest for Home Loan 1)
Saving in Current Acc :  320k  ( i keep there to reduce interest for Home Loan 2)
Unit Trust : 230k
Share Market : 100k
ASNB : 60k
Retirement Money :  350k ( will receive if i quit my job )

Liability & Expenses
Home Loan 1 : 280k Outstanding  ( monthly 1.3k)  - current market value of property : 1 mil
Home Loan 2 : 680k Outstanding  ( monthly 3.5k)  - current market value of property : 1.3 mil
Home Loan 3 :  170k  Outstanding  (monthly 0.5k)  - abandoned project. servicing bank interest.

Monthly Fixed Expenses :  12k ( insurance, home loan, child education, Utilities, current house rental, etc)
Monthly Variable Expenses :  3k ( food, travel , leisure , etc. )

Income
Salary 1 : 35k  ( My Income  )
Salary 2 :  7k ( Wife Income)
Rental  1 : 10k ( Short-term Rental income from  Home 1)
Rental  2 : 1.6k ( Normal annual rental )

If you get returns of 4% per annum on your savings/investment, and you can maintain the rental income - then I'd say yes. The excess you have each month can go into further investments to stave off inflation, but it's really going to be tight if you are going to have further big ticket expenses in the future (kids education, wedding, medical bills etc).

Also, one of the strategies you might wanna consider is to start pumping 100k annually into EPF. With 5% returns/year, you'll exceed RM1mil in 5 years. Withdraw from your other various investment for your monthly expenses till then.

Your understanding about the outstanding loan is correct. Im only keeping the saving in the account to offset the bank interest.
Well, my salary is only partially declared in Malaysia and only that portion is subject to EPF. ^^
Im planning to partially pay off the principal of Home Loan 2 to reduce the monthly payment to 1.5k . It seems possible according to the loan agent. Im also contemplating on the other issues that you mentioned. It’s all legit and practical ~

How much is your home loan interest that you need to do such measures?

Most Home loan interest are very low these, better to put that money in investment vehicles that provide higher returns
