Sorry la. I am not paid well enough for stupid company KPIs. Maybe if they pay me more and give me more leaves (like europan countries) maybe I will be fine to continue working.
*
Same as you, i also think KPIs is stupid, it makes staff becomes robots, and most of the time those KPIs are useless, and some even causing troubles. Some departments' KPIs might look good on paper, but bring nothing to the company. But then at the same time, if a company has too many staff, it might need KPIs to track, but imo it is only works for certain type of departments/works.

About meetings, a lot of useless/snaking staff use meetings a way to make them look like they are doing a lot of things or being hardworking, but in reality, just NATO no action talk only.

I wish I had the same experience as you when I retired early more than 4 years ago. I thought maybe after a year or two, I'd get restless enough to want to go back to work. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately?), that never happened.

Glad to know you are enjoying your retirement life thumbup.gif

My company has 25 ALs, probably you can get a better job?

It's a free market, no one is forcing you to stay at your current job.

having x number of annual leaves may not mean much... especially if one is not allowed to take most of them....

its nice display only....

my last job gives 35 annual leaves per year for senior staffs... guess how many I can finish?
(good thing is one can monetize like 3 days as cash if cannot clear all... that also i suspect is to keep us from making too much noise)

35 days is a lot. I only get 25 days, which I make sure I take. Silly to work for free for a company.

If I add my annual leave (25) with 2 days weekend (104) and Malaysian public holidays (at least 16), thats 145 days of holidays. 145/365 thats 40% of days in a year "retired" but still getting fully paid. 60% days working is not bad, which is why Im not FIRE yet.

Also I do find some meaning/enjoyment in my work.

dont forget to take all the MC too. In employee handbook and Letter of Offer , it's mentioned "...entitle 28 days MC".. . Our entitlements as an employee. Even Labour Office will side us if I took all the 28 days in a year.

just joking as I now too old to be employed. tak da boss want me.

Can. Very important thing your spouse and family must be on the same page as you. That was my negotiable to my future wife. She must be able to live like B40. Know the struggles we have to make now.

What you faced was lifestyle inflation. Oh I have more money, need to upgrade my lifestyle. To pursue FIRE you cannot let lifestyle inflation in. Try to avoid it as much as possible because a little bit little that's how you let it in.
That's why I feel RM5m is sufficient. I want to reach at least SGD1m before I ease off. If can maybe USD1m. I can do that assuming I can generate min 12%p.a via my options. RM5m > USD1m

Remember what I say about wealth is health? That's what I am doing with my parents. There are ways to biohack their health. If you got the money, spend it on health, you won't regret it. Having healthy parents is very important. They already say they won't travel. So go walking with them in parks. They don't eat out. So my parents are very easy people. I told you I came from poverty so I am still living the poverty life.

You need to read ASSI blog. He is one of those that FIRE in his 40s and have been spending time with his parents. Now he is 55. He got extra 10 years with his parents. 10 years not wasting time in the office or work place. 10 years to be at their side. Bring them go shopping, makan.
https://singaporeanstocksinvestor.blogspot.com/?m=1
That's where you are wrong.
Remember equation about time, energy, money? Play with that.

People say in 30 or 40 you don't have money or no time? What if you got all 3 time, energy and money in your 30s or 40s? That's my goal. You have at least 40 years to enjoy your life Vs 10 years. That's a very big difference. No boss to answer to. Not at mercy of your job. No need to worry what if tomorrow no job? Can my kids and wife survive? That is buying back your time. Spending good quality time with parents, kids and spouse. That is buying back time.

Would you rather travel now when you got no illness and energy Vs when you are old? Now is your golden years. Yes I agree. Goldenr years to do what you want to do in life and have no regrets.

What is there to shorten compounding if you already have more than enough having  more won't do anything extra? Also unless you stop investing completely or use up all your cash every month, your compounding stops. There are other ways to compound without working. I know you are antiFIRE. For me, my dividends will continue growing at 10-20%p.a. I will still be doing options. So I am still compounding even though I won't be working. I may have turn off one stream of income but I still got 2 steam of income bringing in money. The 2 stream will bring in more money even though I am not working. That's working smart.

hehehe,... I'll jump-in here. Looks like Ramjade got everything sorted out for his future.

Let's look at the past as a reference. He used to say he'll never get married and he'll remain single. Insisted on that time and time again after my rebuttals.

Look at his postings today,...hehehe,... he's talking abt finding a girl that must be like this and like that.

So,... things will chg. Anyway, good luck in finding such a girl,.. and you better hope that this girl that you will surrender your single-status certificate to and tie yourself legally to will not chg in future.... which I think you can't and you will chg due to incoming circumstances. You must also ensure your future wife does not chg too,.. again,... due to incoming circumstances.

One more thing, you said you wanted kids too, right ? I bet you're going to say you'll educate your kids to live like B40 ! I believe in reincarnation,... sometimes,... whoever gets 'reincarnated to be your kids' is really,... sad.gif

Ok - ASSI is really single, plays computer games and stays with his parents all his life. This one I admit is keeping to his words,..... ok,... but don't know-lar,.. I'm in SG always, I hear he has a few China gf's and supports them,...... but no children to look after.

Read a bit of Ramjade's looooonnnggg postings above. Want to travel also must have money,... ok ?

I have always been on lookout for a frugal girl. Damn difficult to find. I am willing to wait even if it takes forever. Finally found one. Where can you find a girl who don't spend much, willing to wait for sales only buy, buy 2nd item, environmental friendly, can tell you the michael kors is expensive. I will never marry a non frugal girl. You mistaken my post already. I will marry a fungal girl. No frugal girl = be single only lo.

I believed in hardship. You cannot let your kids experience luxury life or they will be addicted to it. Everyone who make it all went through hardship.

ASSI identity is not even known. He have shown his life which is very simple.

Yes that right. That's why I follow only those that have done it. I also believed and follow the original FIRE way and notcurrent day derivatives. All tell you the same thing. Be super frugal, save min 50% of income, invest the savings for cash flow or income. That is it. Unfortunately being frugal part is the part where most people struggle because most people cannot do delay gratification.

FIRE is NOT necessarily all about being frugal, retire at 30 and live below your means, save and skimp every penny.

FIRE can also be maximising your earnings potential and retire at 45 instead, build up such a big pot of gold that you no longer need to hustle for every sen and live like a king, travel, enjoy quality live and tick off all your bucket lists

Hi bro, I've been reading your posts with interest and some of the content on investment & FIRE is quite impressive, I must say.
Thanks for sharing these insights, I also learn something.

However on the part of being frugal, does it mean you are living a minimalist life of extreme austerity, with the intention and objective of enjoying the fruits of your labor / sacrifice at the later phase of your life (i.e. elderly) ? This is a concept that I cannot grasp and agree with. Isn't life supposed to be a journey and enjoyed as you live on, and not only to achieve an end destination of bliss ?

Life is so fragile and unpredictable nowadays, seemingly healthy young folks can suddenly drop dead or kena killed in unforeseen accidents.

What's the point of scrimping, saving and building up a huge investment portfolio generating millions whilst living a frugal life ?
What is the point of all that ?

Yeah, I think there is a balance to strike. Like your case, I'm also doing the same, I bought my wife some Coach, MK bags, and she enjoyed those - she is those frugal type who don't requires branded goods to feel happy, but still rewarding people we love with some of this. Her jewelries though, she just keep it locked worrying theft sweat.gif
