Wont break down but if it do parts not cheap as not much OEM compared to the Germans. Part prices are expensive.

Probably one of the most reliable cars you can buy.

Maintenance is around RM400 a year for oil change

I would recommend to opt for Lexus GS250/200t or Toyota Crown if you can consider used/recon.
ES250 for most people only think it is a glorified Toyota Camry as it is still a FWD model.

GS250/200t or Toyota Crown is way more better in term of drivetrain (RWD), comfort & status compare to ES250.

Don't fall for all the RWD advocates.

If TS is only care for low maintenance cost, comfy, reliability, a FWD has less moving parts to worry about. A glorified Camry is always cheaper to own than a RWD 6 cyclinders 2.5L GS/IS.

Plus on wet weather, a FWD car is actually more controllable due to it's driving wheels are at the front.

BTW, Toyota/Lexus parts majority also not much problem & affordable.
If you can afford 2.5L, a 4 cylinder vs 6 cylinder engine maintenance difference wont fair much.
Besides from the drivetrain, GS overall is also a Class-E category higher a level up compare to ES only Class-D category.

No doubt about v6 is smoother. On servicing, it requires 6 spark plugs, and if overhaul needed (on high mileage), you need to folk out more.

FC is also more. MY brother had GS250 before, so I know.

Dimension wise, not a big different. In fact ES has larger cabin space than ES despite having slightly shorter wheelbase due to the GS having much bigger central tunnel.

V6 engine half-cut is plenty, besides that the 6-speed gearbox is also reasonable to fix or get from half-cut.
In term of aftermarket GS got more choice and also got higher 2nd value as it is the last generation with RWD.
For sure FC is also more due to heavier and bigger chassis, is about choice.
But for most owner i met driving ES also prefer/recommend to get GS if got the extra money.

ES250 2016 is around RM 120k mark, which is somewhere GS250 for Y2012/2013.
I'll say take the 2016.

I'd take the IS or GS over ES anytime but if someone's looking at an ES, I don't think they are looking for performance or driving pleasure at all. Just luxury and comfort I guess.

Used? Recon? If used, do check the service record. If recon, do check the auction sheet. Maintenance cost is subjective. Part cost should be comparable to camry. Durability wise being Lexus still command good durability all around.

Any workshop with good records working with Toyota cars also can, it is not much difference.
