When I look at youtube videos of ID works and cost of HK apartments... it looks quite reasonable... seeing that it is in HK and they literally made a lot of changes from wall design to many moving parts installed to expand the space...

the video attached is one of them... HKD580k (MYR311k) ... 953sqf apartment with full custom furnishing... custom wall painting and design...woodwork... plastering and everything..

However... when I checkout some older post in this forum discussing on the cost... I was shocked...

I saw some people asking how much does it cost to have a "simple" ID for a 3 bedroom 800 sqf apartment... and that person strictly mentioned no changes to the floors... only paints works on wall.. plaster ceiling... some simple rack on kitchen (no need kitchen cabinet).... simple "pre-made" furnishing like wardrobe and curtains only (exclude bed.. tv..).... literally... from what I read was just plaster ceiling + wall paint + some simple hanging rack + pre-made wardrobe. + curtains.. thats all.. no moving parts ... no woodwork... no furnishing like bed.. tv.. couch etc..

but saw some ID saying ... at least RM100k...

I got shocked... in HK such an extensive renovation only RM311k (also bearing in mind we are talking about costs in HK)... but in MY... just call ID to do some simple changes... no demolition work... total cost can be at least RM100k...

So how does ID in Malaysia calculate the fees actually??

There is no fixed price for ideas or skills.

Yea but don't want to get cheated also..

like some here mentioned... nothing is custom build also RM100k... feels like kena con jer...

I've used a general ID calculator (developed by some Malaysia ID) I could find from google.. the cost is literally less than RM20k for basic renovation (i.e. plaster ceiling + electrical works + wall painting with no wood work/demolition work for 1000sqf apartment) .... just throw in a pre-made wardrobe and some kitchen rack... becomes at least RM100k??

I honestly don't trust many freelance ID in Malaysia... no integrity

Just wanted to share that buying some fittings and fixture in HK is actually cheaper than here due to their proximity to China (Shenzhen).

Anyway, a 1,000 sq.ft house renovation in KV, usually can be broken down in such;

General works - plaster ceiling (designer's within living and dining), full floor tile (if developer's tile is subpar), full kitchen and bathroom re-tile, electrical, premium paint coating; should be between RM28,000-RM38,000

Carpentry - custom made carpentry with Island and Qiartz table top (wardrobe, kitchen, TV, shoe); should be between RM20,000-RM35,000

Furnishing- fancy lamp, fancy fan, sofa, curtain, sofa, bed; should be RM15,000-RM25,000

The above set-up are really premium. Anyway, between RM35,000-RM40,000 could actually set-up a whole condominium nicely for everything.

sounds reasonable... especially since it is "really premium"
