Guys, I am in the dilemma of choosing either AX73 or Deco X20. Need any sifu further helps.

Background:
TM had provided AC1200 last time during I signed up for the package. However due to my house layout (1250 sqft Condo) there is Concrete Wall that blocking the signal which causing my 2nd Room Signal drop more than 50% and 3rd Room will not get any Wifi Signal, I had purchase Deco M4 to extend the coverage. The setup that I had made is one pack M4R connected to AC1200 and another pack is placing in my second room which now successful covered the whole house.

Unfortunately now my AC1200 broken and thinking to upgrade my network router. If I choose AX73, will I face again the same issue like what happen to AC1200 when come to second room speed drop significantly and third room no internet connection or might as well I just get Deco X20 which mesh definitely able to support whole house coverage?

Thanks All Sifu in Advanced First.

This probably most people overlooked on m wireless mesh network.

As you know you speed gets slower and slower once you go further from the main router. Same like mesh router. If you place a mesh router at a location where the speed can established at say 20Mbps between two mesh unit, then the max speed would be just that at most, unless you link each mesh router using LAN cable smile.gif

Yes I do understand the further from Main Network Router, the speed could be reduce however due to Concrete Wall it blocks more. Like my house network speed is 100mbps, without the mesh router, my second room is not far from main network router however the speed I got would left only below 50mbps and third room is just right beside second room will be totally lost internet connection or max 5mbps. Once I install Deco M4R, second room Internet Speed is back to 100mbps and third room can reach 90 - 95 mbps.

This also the reason I scare if purchase AX73 instead of mesh will cause the same issue happen again.

I don't know how the speed get up again from 50Mbps unless the mesh receiver is more sensitive and able to communicate at higher speed. I use my Asus AC5300 to cover my 2 floor house of around 3000sqft. The minimum speed I get anywhere in the house is around 200Mbps from subscribe speed of 500Mbps. So, I don't buy mesh.

Never use TP-Link to really advise but both have good spec on paper at least. Probably need to wait those with the two models replied.

Neither archer or deco can work together wirelessly. Let see your subscription
Are you on time/maxis/unifi? Do you use IPTV?

If you use IPTV is better to use archer with its onemesh extender

If you don't use IPTV maybe you can use deco as main router replacement of ac1200 router, you just need to set in pppop mode (get password from customer service) as well as vlan for respective isp as required.

So if you use m4 as main router replacement, you don't have to get new router anymore. Unless you think the processor power on m4 is too limited, then can use stronger router and make m4 as AP as you set currently, but you will lose some benefits such as wifi 6 features as you turn it off on that router

why not just make the Main Deco as a router and connect wirelessly to Deco2. Basically key in the PPPOE login directly into Main Deco.

I am using Unifi. After my AC1200 broken, my current setup is one of the M4 is serving as Primary Router. Just thinking to replace my Deco to AX model that's why not sure which one to go for. I am not using the IPTV as I am using Android TV which PlayTV App can be installed in my TV.

I had check the onemesh extender however the onemesh extender is actually serve as Wifi Repeater which I believe the speed will not be satisfied the needs.

I guess the only choice is still getting the Deco X20 to replace current Deco M4.

Any reason you want to change your M4 to X20?
M4 is still new right? I guess is less than 3 years.

I did some research, after reading and watching all the review, it conclude that OneMesh extender performance below my expectation, If I were you better go back to Deco. And what more, the OneMesh extender so much expensive, not worth to buy.

In my opinion, router / mesh the life cycle is long. (not like CPU / laptop / PC / graphic card)
As long, the manufacturer release new firmware timely to patch internet security, give you the latest update in term of features / finetuned the performance and stability.

You will never regret put in more budget invest yourself with a better router / mesh for long term use.

If coverage is your only concern, just get Deco X20 instead. It supports full roaming protocol. You can add existing M4 to the setup if the coverage still not enough for your case

AX73 is more expensive if you need second unit/extender compared to Deco X20. However if you need advanced configuration, then get AX73.

You can get Deco X20 at cheaper price through shopee around RM550 during 10.10/cashback voucher.
