Would anyone mind telling me the firmware version your router currently has? Not sure whether mine is bugged or misconfigured...

Somehow it is connected on as mesh - i already set as router mode and also disable WPS.

just OCD that is it is still blinking - any idea where to disable Mesh at the admin page?

but should be safe since i disable all SSID WIFI by Kaon only use it as a connecting router and LAN to another Asus router (WIFI from there).

Qutie strangely, the firmware for my device has been silently upgraded... as opposed to the r11 revision several months ago.

I've only been using this router for the 1st day of installation, or maybe once in a while to troubleshoot stuff
So not noticing anything...

I actually found something interesting, someone posted AR2140's proposal online
https://www.scribd.com/document/661239708/T...v-2-261120-pptx

According to the document, spec are as following:
Main Chipsets BCM6750+BCM43684
NAND 256MB
RAM 512MB
Wifi 2.4Ghz 2*2, 5Ghz 4*4
OS based on OpenWRT

Turns out this thing uses the same tri core processor as Asus AX82u, Tplink AX6000
While using the same 5Ghz chipsets as Asus AX86u, AX88u

Hi guys, I need some advice of which Mesh WiFi has similar WiFi penetration as like AR2140. I have made and paid for my mistake, don’t want to pay for another one.

Context of my background.

Recently I just switched my home fibre from Maxis to TIME. I live in a 921 sq/ft 3R2B condominium. My medium room is set as my studio for work, so I need the best connection in there. Previously I use 500mbps Maxis fibre with the mesh device provided by Maxis which is AR2140. I put the second mesh in the medium room and connect that to my PC using LAN port while the main router and first mesh is in the living room. With this setup I am able to get 500mbps full speed in my studio.

But after switching to TIME (I took 600mbps package) I am unable to use the mesh provided by Maxis anymore with TIME new modem router. The installer from TIME did told me Maxis mesh is unable to use with TIME device so I need to get my own mesh.

I thought of just getting any basic mesh WiFi will be fine as my max speed is only 600mbps and most 5ghz mesh can easily go up to 874mbps. So after some simple research I bought TP-Link Deco X10 thinking it would work. Turns out I have underestimate the disturbance of the wall of my home. I setup Deco X10 exactly the same as before, but only managed to get 100mbps at max in my studio with LAN cable. The TP Link app show the second mesh has only medium signal. What worse is even the connection with my main mesh, it will drop significantly at my yard area which has no wall in between just some distance. The Maxis AR2140 doesn’t have these issues before. I thought that should be some cheap sub brand product but it is performing significantly better than the Deco X10 which cost RM399.

Now I just can’t accept that I am only able to utilize 100mbps of bandwidth out from my 600mbps of internet subscription. I need a mesh WiFi device that can at least perform equivalently like the AR2140. But I don’t have enough knowledge to know which one is similar to AR2140.

Can anyone pleaseeeeeee give me some suggestions? I would really appreciate for any input.

You can absolutely use Kaon with Time, just need a bit of tinkering
Grab your time ppppe credentials, enter it into kaon, make sure you set the VLAN ID to 0, tell time to set your combo unit to bridge mode, plug in your kaon

I've run this setup before for some time, not happy with Kaon's coverage
Ended up switching to dual AX86u

Bro I need this badly. Can you tell the steps in detail please
*
TIME router side:
1. Login to the router using admin username and pwd
Username: telecomadmin
Password: TIMExxxx (xxxx is last 4 digit of main router's MAC address in capital letter)

2. Under WAN, click Internet VLAN

3. WAN Mode change from Router WAN to Bridge WAN

4. Binding Options tick the box LAN 1 (most important step)

5. Save the settings

One more thing, remember to turn off 2 in 1's WiFi once you are done modifying the mode, it can be done by pressing the WLAN button beside the router

KAON router side:
1. Login to the router using admin username and pwd
username: MaxARSysOpr
pwd: !!bestHOME!!xxxx (serial number last 4 digits)

2. Network>WAN Setup>choose any of your preferred eMGMT profile>press the gear icon

3. PPP username put in your time pppoe username, PPP password your pppoe password

4.VLAN ID set to 0

5. Save the settings

Connect your TIME 2 in 1's LAN 1 to Kaon's WAN
Should be working fine

I dont have the devices with me at the moment, these are all the steps I remember...
If it doesnt work, try changing the VLAN settings in KAON (set it to 499)

Thank you so much bro for d detailed explanation. On the other hand , I managed to set maxis kaon as mesh while using Time as router, but the speed is very slow (below 100mbps) , may I know what's the solution? Do I need to do some settings on time router?

Check the mesh settings in TIME's router, if I remember correctly it would use 2.4Ghz as backhaul as well
Try turning that off

Hi All,

I had switch from maxis to unifi.
Can  I use the existing maxis device(AR2410) as mesh?
What will be the configuration to do so?

I tried google but not much info.
Can any sifu pleasw guide me. Thank you in advance.

As long as the main router supports easy mesh, yes
You'll need to change the settings in Kaon first, check youtube for tutorials
https://youtu.be/IDoQPXINaQE?si=X3-QssTBVmntU4f2

When done, press WPS on both devices and wait
Once the internet light on Kaon lights up, it is connected as mesh

Been running Kaon as a satellite on the 2nd floor wirelessly for my house for the past 5 months.
100Mbps Unifi connection with Fibrehome combo as the main unit.

So far so good, I'm able to get the full 100Mbps through the satellite unit connected wirelessly.
However, I'm not able to change the WiFi channels and the area is quite congested with others using the same channels (I assume the entire Taman is using Fibrehome)

No issue roaming between the 2 units, pretty stable and require 0 restart so far.

This will be my last update for Kaon, going to move out next month and leave the unit for the next owner.
