Right now i want to make monthly expenses budget but couldn’t find any article, i cant ask my senior since I don’t know any of them because online class😂.

Hopefully someone can share their expenses budget as a uni student or share any tips to save money as a student

1)Food - If your student accommodation can cook then cook your own meal. Cheaper. If too busy assignments and all, just dabao vegies/meat only and cook your own rice.

2) Can't comment because that's your luck whether u can find cheaper accommodation on your own.

3) Transport - I ride motor, FC low. Every 1 and a half week pump Rm10 oil.

4) Book - go libgen try find got or not first, free digital copies in the form of pdf. Stationary and photostat is dependant on your uni, my campus got printing shop which offers discount if print in bulks.

5) & 6) - none, you need emergency fund for what? Being a student got what kind of emergency? PC rosak or car broke down shit like that?

1. It should around RM 7-8 per meal for mix rice , per serving of hawker food like chicken rice / noodle , etc . Per month need around RM 500~600 per month if everyday eat outside. Excluding the drink . Now the drink per glass of Chinese herbal tea will cost around RM 2.50. Drink plain water for healthier option.
2. Assuming location around Seksyen 17 for UM , the single room should cost you around RM 550-600 per month .
3. RM 300 / month
4. Unable to give the data.
5. Forget about saving, you will spend only.
6. Call parent for emergency

Additional budget
7. Entertainment- RM 100-200/ month for dining out / movies / sport / event .

Normally there will quite a lot of the eateries, entertainment outlets giving out student discount upon presenting the matrix card / student card. Go there for your spending to maximise the value of your money.

If you want to look for additional source of income , I saw some were giving the secondary school student’s tuition before .

Work out how much you have and set overall budget, then only do the individual categories. No point to do in reverse.

kek asking for budget, but never mention where is the uni.
Expenses can vary from places to places.
It is not wise to ask someone on expenses if their uni is at remote place whereas your uni might be located at Klang Valley/urban areas.

u didnt mention which uni location, big affect on rental

I did survived uni on less than 1k a month, main "income" is from PTPTN, 8k per sem, 6k goes to uni, left 2k for 3mths
1. food ~RM10 a day, stock up on maggi, crabstick, mini sausage, fresh vege from tesco, good for whole week, of course need go out eat with course mate as well, more spending there
2. rental - Rm350, changed to cheaper rental (RM250) after 1st year
*just realize u said public uni, no dorm?
3. transport -bike, leg, changed to motor during final year (old honda, bought for RM250 from senior), ~Rm10 fuel per week
4. book? everything is on my laptop, spend ~RM30 per sem on printing
5. no income where got savings?
6. emergency fund is 1-off, I got RM1k on a separate account

also need to budget for phone data, back then I just steal wifi from neighbor, maintain rm10 for calls is enough
