you can look at the 1 and 2 star review on the product page. it's the same issue. lens glare and flash picture simply become a mess. on most photo, i don't think you'd notice. it's easy to notice the glare when you try to take a photo with direct light source.

aaand another paint chipped this morning. this time im pretty sure i didnt do anything. it doesnt look like the camera ring hit anything either because the paint chipped from the inner part.

im buying a camera styling cover to stop this bs. at this rate after a year pretty sure the camera ring will no longer have any paint left.

same here, some of my phone got paint chipped too. I guess build quality might differ per batch.

quick googling says that this issue has been around for a long time, back during iphone 11. even my SE late 2020 got same problem. phone always inside casing, camera bump don't touch anything. even if it touches, i'm pretty sure that it will rest on the lens. but funny thing is, the lens is pristine - only the paint around it chipped all over.

So I think I know what happened. New to my IPhone 13 I also acquired a smart plug and I set an automation with apple home / shortcuts to automatically start charging when my phone drops below 80% and switch off the plug when my phone goes above 85%.
In practice this makes the plug switched ON most of the time, and it switches off to avoid keeping my battery on high state of charge.

Now this “Ghost touch” thing that automatically closes any random app I’m using is actually what happens my battery hits 79%, ie below 80%. The automation when it is triggered just closes whatever app I’m using at the time.
Mystery solved.

Any idea what I should do to avoid unusual battery drain? The phone just suddenly decides to become warm. I thought that it might be bad network, but turning on airplane mode on wifi does nothing. Yesterday it was not like this.

Im on ios 15.7. Downgrade from 16 because of the same problem.

Usually its some app or process still running. Can try Vol up, Vol Down, Hold power button until it restarts.

No difference after restart. Phone is warm enough that I can feel through casing. This is the 3rd day in a row. Today I just mindlessly browsing facebook watching reels when it suddenly become warm.

Turning on low battery mode seems to do something. But I got nothing running in the background. No cloud service, no backup or anything.

Something is wrong.. i would do a hard reset myself first before handing in for warranty. I bet they will do a hard reset first anyway
