Hi all
i am currently considering the Civic FE V spec, but have a few questions i hope to get addressed here

1. how is the ground clearance for the civic FE? any issues going up steep ramps at shopping malls/clearing speed bumps?

2. if i get the V spec but add on exhaust tail pipe finisher, will the twin exhausts be visible like in the RS spec? personally i think it will amp up the sport car look by quite a bit

3. will it be difficult for elderly people to get in and out of the car since it is quite low slung

thank you!

thank you for sharing your insight thumbup.gif
glad to know that the ground clearance isnt an issue.
i went for test drive alone the other day, didn't bring my parents along to test whether they can get in and out easily. but from my experience the civic is definitely lower than my current car (2nd gen vios)

Cant for sure for Q1 & 2,
but for Q3, it is definitely difficult, even for me at 30ish, especially parking at the road that is not flat

Q1,  u can get by most bumps. The clearance is good enough to go through jalan kampung like this steep longkang "bridge" with full 5 adults in th car.

Q3, so far backseat no complaints from family member elderly 65-75 range. But it does require effort to get in and out as compared to the Honda City.

1. ground clearance definitely not an issue for malls, speed bumps. Not sure with bodykits.

2. yes for v spec can add , but need to change the cover as well. to make it fit better
https://shopee.com.my/Honda-Civic-FE-2022-R...04-31bdb6004006

3. elderly in and out is a challenge, but depends, if they are used to sedans, den should be ok. if they are used to taller cars, they might struggle a bit.
my parents only sit my car once, age 6x, they just say its low, did not complain about hard to get in/out.
*
QUOTE(tifosi @ Jul 27 2022, 02:07 PM)
1. Not really an issue even with 4-5 ppl on board. Even the FC has no issue.

2. Yes you can, but you need to cut the stock exhaust at the tip because V exhaust tip downwards. Probably will void the exhaust warranty but I guess generally exhaust won't give you much issue.

3. Depends on how strong are their legs laugh.gif My parents did complain a little but still able to ingress and egress without any issue. I think the issue is more on long distance drive since they cannot really put their leg 90 degree but like 120 degree since the seat is low.
*
meaning once added honda's exhaust pipe finisher, i will still have to get the cover from shopee so that it will show? the SA i'm in touch with isnt very helpful, keep on pushing for me to get the RS variant bangwall.gif

For number 2, I would said there are some differences that you are difficult to make it like RS:
1) The interior roof color is black for RS.
2) The Ultrasuede seat with red stitching & ambient light.
3) The 18 inches rims with Michelin PS4 tires, with profile tuned.

The rest are quite minor and easily mod which just body kit/ wrap pnp.
*
this may be an unpopular opinion but actually i prefer the V spec's beige roof lining, feels less claustrophobic biggrin.gif as well as the full leather seats, which IMO should be easier to maintain especially after exercise

QUOTE(squareballs @ Jul 27 2022, 05:02 PM)
RS variant is about 150k without Insurance i think. so if add up OTR will be 15x already.

i got the V spec instead as to me the RS is more towards cosmetic, but of coz if we calculate the items given, especially the 18 inch wheels and PS4, its quite worth.
If you're planning to have 18 inch wheels on your ride in the future, just go for the RS.

I chose the V because 18inch tires when tukar banyak mahal lo tongue.gif
*
yup if you like the big wheels and blacked out interior sure, RS very worth it. maybe it's the age catching up, i dont really like the sporty RS look except for the visible tailpipes brows.gif
and yes, also i considered 17 inch might have better ride quality, and also more expensive 18 inch tyres in the future

QUOTE(lee82gx @ Jul 27 2022, 05:08 PM)
1. For me, slightly low. I drive my wife, and 2 young kids - I regularly scrape speed bumps. Although ever so slightly. Will always get scolded by my wife.
1.1 One time, I drove 6 adults in the car into an underground car park, and scrapped the middle beam and removed some paint..... bye.gif
2. No idea...
3. Please for the sake of your parents....I recommend a proper test drive with them, bring them to the show room if possible....I know some parents may not like it but maybe yours will appreciate the thought?
*
oh dear.. is it because you carry quite abit of speed when going over the speed bumps? yup good suggestion. most likely will drag them along to honda showroom once new HRV test drive unit is also available rclxms.gif

I have the same bias u have, cant really get used to driving at height, even older myvi also for me is considered high seating position lol.

For me civic vs hrv is like a brain and heart punya dilemma. Heart is civic, but brain say hrv is better as a overall family car? I am still single and i dont really need the riding height and space for now, and hrv v spec nvh kinda disappointing. Salesman say the hybrid might have better ride becos it is more balanced with the batt on the back, probably more rear heavy.

Should have compare price to price, but ehev is pretty fun to drive at. Still have time to think anyway.

By the way, is the brake hold switch can be always on even after off car?
*
adding on to the brain vs heart argument,

Brain :
- flash floods are becoming more frequent, so it makes sense to be driving a higher riding vehicle
- roads in Sarawak arent really up to par yet, may not be suitable for a low riding sedan
- fuel subsidy may be ending in the near future, thus the more fuel efficient iMMD RS is more attractive especially in the long run
- difficulty for parents/grandparents during ingress and egress from the vehicle

Heart :
- more premium interior of the civic, with much better NVH
- proper boot that is cavernous
- and personally the power of the 1.5T is addictive rclxms.gif

QUOTE(lee82gx @ Aug 15 2022, 10:46 AM)

Perhaps you can ask how did old knees get in and out of cars 20 years ago haha.
I suppose people tend to complain less back then.
*
i dont have experience of owning many types of sedan in my family, but as i recall the old nissan sunny, toyota corolla XL, and vios, bezza - all do not sit as low as the current civic sweat.gif

Yes, Went last saturday, The SA also mentioned 2.0 hybrid, expecting RM8K lagi mahal
*
drool.gif i was expecting minimum 10k more exp. but makes more sense if they cut some RS features like the 18 inch rim with Michellin PS4

QUOTE(lee82gx @ Oct 3 2022, 12:44 PM)
TBH if its the proper Thai Speced RS e:HEV, I think another 8k is damn cheap.
*
if with full digital dashboard even more worth it rclxms.gif

best case scenario they keep the current line up but bring in both Thai EL+ and RS e:HEV models, with EL+ just below/just above the current RS..

or HM might replace V and current 1.5T RS with EL+ and RS e:HEV only?

If they are not gonna put the full screen instrument cluster here, that's just a bad move by HM. With that alone, I think it's good enough to pull in some $$.
*
18” dual tone rim , 10.25” digital meter , key card

Got that msg from the SA. So likely full screen instrument

QUOTE(Leo the Lion @ Oct 18 2022, 10:21 AM)
My mindset when considering the eHEV, is the big mileage that came from it. The quick pickup was the third in my consideration list. Its fun to have a quicker pickup than the turbo but thats not all that Im looking for. Second was the full digital cluster.

If I want a sustain speed, might as well get the turbo.
*
my own personal considerations would be eHEV should have better refinement, making it suitable to handle traffic jams in the city while being comfortable cruiser for long distance drives

for the savings in terms of fuel consumption i'm on the fence, unless one day in the near future, our RON 95 becomes RM4/litre or more, the jump in price to eHEV from turbo RS or even V spec is quite significant.

truly, a battle of the brain vs the heart doh.gif

meter navigation

Carplay - Apple Maps
Android Auto - Google Maps

hi. do you mean Civic FE can display turn-by-turn navigation on the digital instrument cluster via apple maps or google maps? is this applicable for the e:HEV only or even 1.5T E/V/RS can do this?

similar to BMW live cockpit

i think depends on SC.. but to be safe, just dont do anything to the car..

one SA actually recommended if change rims better keep the original set, so that if anything happen need to claim warranty, just switch it back to the ori rims & tyres. But i didnt ask further if need to switch back during routine services or not

Guys, can I ask your opinion? I booked my car since June 2022 and still haven’t receive my car yet. Is it have to wait that long? I believe the branch is prioritizing others compared to mine. Seek sifu advice here..

Booked V spec grey color from Puchong branch.

June 2022 means your booking should be the SST-free period right? i thought Honda pledged to deliver these orders by March blink.gif

Hi all.

I have a dilemma for sure that some of you may experienced it before.

We intend to go for hybrid SUV most probably HRV, but because of underpowered engine wife said she now not so keen on it. Next obvious solution will be to get new hybrid CRV..but it is quit a big step up in term of price. almost 50k easily.

so she ask to check on Civic hybrid.

for context, she is driving Axia and I'm using Vios. So we are familiar with Sedan..she just dont want to feel underpowered as she is driving Axia, so one underpowered car enough dy she said. We are trading Vios to new Car. No kids just us for now.

So, any advice will be appreciated. I'm thinking maybe get Civic hybrid for 4-5 years before we may switch car again, either trade the Axia or Civic depending on the situation then.

Civic hybrid expected second hand value, any idea?
*
interesting to find out that the hybrid HRV is underpowered even though on paper it has higher torque. showrooms in Kuching dont have any HRV RS for test-drive so can't really comment
edit: come to think of it perhaps what you mean is represented from the lower hp figures, rather than torque figure that is slightly higher for the RS

but from your context seems like even the 1.5T would be sufficient, as it would like either a very significant increase in fuel price per liter, combined with very high mileage, to make up the price difference of civic turbo vs civic hybrid.. also you don't have to worry much about hybrid's lower RV in the future
