Abit off topic but hope you dont mind me asking,
HRV interior and Civic interior got big difference? Hear many HRV owners complain about the plastic, but seldom heard people complain civic.

no actual experience on the new CIVIC but am driving the new RS HRV - been using it to ferry my family members (parents, sister and my nephew) and all sit in very comfortably without complains. headroom and legroom is equally as good but the dark headliner may not cope very well with people who has slight claustrophobia.

boot space can accommodate weekend grocery runs without problems and the driving position / visibility is good but not great. don't like the Lane Watch thing.

as far as materials used is concern, there are plastics but mostly soft plastics (with slightly harder ones at the bottom part) so no complains since it is going to be more durable and I like that because i can use it without actually worrying about damaging them.

You should request for 20-30 mins test drive. On RS spec, hell my butt always cry out loud after 2-3 hours ride.

Also one down side that you have to tolerate is the cb road noise. The noise is so cb loud that you're feeling like you're basically sitting in a cheap garbage-alike c segment car. I spent quite a lot on sound proofing just to prevent myself go crazy from the road noise especially reaching 120 km/h and above.

I drive from KL to Kepala Batas, Penang back and forth constantly.

Also you have to be tolerate on car doors opening and closing milo-tin sound, but better and "thicker" than CR-V.

that bad?

but Eugene from Autobuzz seems to praise the Civic to be like a holy grail of cars D:

I used to drive the 10th generation Civic 1.5 TCP. My wife now drives the 11th gen RS version.

What I've noticed is that the fuel consumption seems worse in the new car. I used to average around 11km/L, mostly city driving (so quite a bit of traffic jam daily).

She's averaging around 9.0-10.0km/L. Also city driving. Tyres are the same (Michelin PS4).

Is this something that's to be expected?

isn't it that the 11th gen is heavier than the 10th gen?

Yes but I didn't think it would account for such a drastic change in fuel consumption.

But the other poster above may be right about driving style and routes. I drive fast, but hardly need to brake when you also anticipate what lies ahead well. So perhaps my wife is different (lol).

1/2km per litre isn't drastic (you may have over-exaggerated) and i would discount that it is due to driving styles as that would account for more than 1/2km differences.

either way, i did a google search and it says the weight difference between the 2 generations is about 20kgs. so assuming that a tank of fuel could give you at least 400km, you are basically lugging additional 20kgs for 400kms and that is ALOT.

for example, you'll get wasted faster doing 80kgs barbells for 20 reps than 60kgs for the same reps.
