VW Golf announced. Interesting to compare their driving experience side by side

Sorry if the questions are too basic:

1) Is it worth installing the honda recorder? Or better do it outside?
2) Is Honda tint Ray barrier 4+ ok? I'm a normal normal daily driver

My observation of FE V spec after 5 days having it. Done 200+ km so far.

The GOOD

1) The car rides better than the FC (both on same 17" MC5 tyres). It's slightly more comfy than the FC and the biggest plus is the car is more compose going through the yellow rumble strips and doesn't bounce as much. Stability wise on high speed better as well. NVH is ok, I find similar to the FC or maybe just a tad better.

2) Engine and gearbox is more refined. The FC has a slight turbo lag but in FE i can barely feel it. The feeling of huge big 1.5 NA before the turbo spool is less evidence in this FE. The low speed jerkyness is not there anymore. I feel they changed the CVT mapping to the suit the car a whole lot better. Of course the usual rubberband and whine still there but it's a CTV after all.

3) The refinement and the perceived quality (note: "perceived") is better. The buttons, the touch points, the aircond knob, the slow drop of the glove compartment all makes the car feel more premium. I feel I am seated in a more premium car compare to the FC. Fit and finish seems better.

4) Overall view from the driver's seat is way better especially the thinner A-pillars. The gap between the a-pillar and the side mirrors are very useful especially for curbs while turning. The seating is higher than FC but still low compare to the likes of City/Myvi/Altis.

5) First time having wireless carplay and this is probably the best thing for me. It's so seemless, I get in the car, start the engine and voila, it's auto paired and Spotify will continue where it left off while my phone is still in my pocket. No lag so far. Infotainment is miles ahead than the FC. Probably the best reason for not taking the X50 tongue.gif.

The BAD

1) The cameras suck BIG time. I feel the camera quality has downgraded from the FC to the FE and more evidently during the night. The noise level is unacceptable and any source of light will just turn into a ball of white. My 55k 5 year old Myvi has way sharper images and perform way better at night. Shame on you Honda.

2) Rattling noises. Detected some already from the door card/seat belt area of the passenger. Will try to record some video for another post. Really topkek Honda quality  doh.gif

3) The low speed follow is not as smooth as the one I tested in X50. It still does the job but the acceleration and the braking could be quite harsh and abrupt comparing to X50. Was looking forward so much to this but a little disappointed.

4) There's no wrapping for the hard plastic between door and the seat for the back passenger. So it's uncomfortable when you rest your elbow on the hard plastic. Even the City GM6 has it leather wrapped so why can't they offer for the Civic? How much can you save by omitting this? mad.gif

5) The seats are a little too hard/firm for my liking (same with FC as well), City's seats are actually nicer to be on but I guess you can't have it all.

Spot on! Point number 5 - how to avoid this? I hv 2-hr drive today and my back is killing me 🤣

Hello sifu,

Just wondering what is this problem. At speed above 80, when i turn to the right, the steering feels like it “slipped”. Unsure how to describe this but instead of smooth turning, the steering moves quickly to the right.

Mentioned to SC during 10k service but they didnt detect any issue.

Yeah, the turn of the sterring is not smooth and it is harder to stay on the lane. Additionally, got this problem now where lane assist, collisions, and auto high beams are malfunctioning
