The thing with Honda Malaysia's steering rack issue is not limited to 1 model like Civic only. Basically the entire fleet of product has this same problem. Driving a HRV, changed twice still got sound. My mechanic friend that runs a shop, he said bulk of Honda car that came in also changing steering rack only. As long as people continue buying their new cars, they won't fix this.

QUOTE(nick_linz @ Oct 7 2024, 12:22 PM) Thinking abt getting a civic. Does the current batch of civic still have the steering rack issue? But is it possible to fix this issue at the workshop at all if I'm unlucky enough to buy one with this issue Their steering rack issue is across nearly all their models since many years already. I have a HRV 2016 make. Changed few batang already. So, the problem were never solved. Worst is, the problem from the rack affects many other parts down there as well. My mechanic friend fixed many Hondas and a bulk of them are steering racks.

QUOTE(thechickadee @ Oct 19 2024, 11:33 AM) Apparently in america they are doing it this way now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xA_o3CJhrwbut there'll be an updated easier method to smear the grease later after the official recall. Don't understand the technicalities of all these thing, but as of now, it looks like a lot of work for just smearing some grease. Upate: America's current way after recall https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i82ysapwtXsLook like a band aid only. Probably a flaw design that need redesign.

QUOTE(katijar @ Jan 23 2025, 02:40 PM) Where do you stick rfid on your civic? I sticked mine in windscreen but always failed to be detected It's not much on where you paste it. When you go through the lane, just make sure you stop momentarily at where the antenna is. The antenna is a square white box that is around 1mx1m of size. These are not rocket science and should work even in quite badly placed RFID. At where the antenna is, there's also a loop detector on the road. You can't go wrong.
