Hi all.

I have a dilemma for sure that some of you may experienced it before.

We intend to go for hybrid SUV most probably HRV, but because of underpowered engine wife said she now not so keen on it. Next obvious solution will be to get new hybrid CRV..but it is quit a big step up in term of price. almost 50k easily.

so she ask to check on Civic hybrid.

for context, she is driving Axia and I'm using Vios. So we are familiar with Sedan..she just dont want to feel underpowered as she is driving Axia, so one underpowered car enough dy she said. We are trading Vios to new Car. No kids just us for now.

So, any advice will be appreciated. I'm thinking maybe get Civic hybrid for 4-5 years before we may switch car again, either trade the Axia or Civic depending on the situation then.

Civic hybrid expected second hand value, any idea?

Any reason why you need to stick with hybrid? You can get the turbo HRV and it's many steps up from the Axia.

Hybrid generally has a weaker resale value comparing to pure ICE.

I'm commuting 60 km daily in and out of KL, lots of highways.

petrol price is one thing especially with targeted subsidies soon will kick in, silent cabin and smoother drive.

as for HRV turbo we have considered it too, but exclude it for the reasons above.

so far that I've read through, civic ehev will provide better experience in the current civic lineup.

civic 1.5 turbo would be more than enough
*
she will drive this new car occasionally. most of the driving will be done by me.

she just annoyed sometimes when we driving axia on highways compared to my vios, in term of power.

that is where she come from to consider civic.

but because of the reasons i've stated in above post, this is where the hybrid conversation come in.

Have any of you 2 actually test driven both the HRV turbo and the HRV EHEV hybrid?

Regardless of the test drive, have any of you 2 actually checked the paper specs of the HRV EHEV hybrid? Lol
*
tested HRV turbo, cant find any showroom with EHEV hybrid until now..all keep V spec only.

I've tested civic v just for fun before..will to try ehev rs this weekend before decide if want to book.

also tested crv ehev.

i'll short cut for you:

Turbo HRV is more powerful than previous and current gen Vios.
Turbo HRV is more powerful than Axia

Hybrid EHEV HRV is more powerful than Turbo HRV

Turbo Civic E (Turbo Civic RS is actually the slowest) is faster than HRV Turbo
Hybrid HRV is abg adik with Turbo Civic, the Civic edges out a bit on the actual 0-100, but 0-60 kph (not mph) the instant EV advantage goes to the hybrid.

Hybrid Civic RS EHEV is the most powerful among the bunch.

i personally co owned both Civic turbo E and HRV Hybrid EHEV
personally launched both cars 0-100 with one recorded video for the HRV Hybrid.
*

good summary. thank you, will keep this in mind over this weekend.

I guess better discuss in HRV thread, but because I'm comparing it to Civic, I think i'll just continue here for a short one.

your HRV hybrid ehev no issue on highway..doesn't feel like when we demand the speed it feel a little bit forced? in comparison with your civic turbo E?

Main reason for 1K is to dispose engine oil that have metal debris from within the engine due to initial friction between the internal engine parts. Try not to delay 1st and 2nd service oil change due to that. Not the end of the world if delay change but do you want any possible metallic debris flowing around your engine parts?

Understood. I guess I need to arrange it as soon as possible. Thank you for the explanation.

not sure what you mean by pedestrian sound.

but if standing outside the car, not much sound if running on EV and tonned down engine noise if on engine mode.

gais..can somebody explain to me how to know if I have steering rack issue..

I notice small changes to the steering, if I slightly push to either left or right, the respond is a little bit delayed. Very small movement only..

If I do a proper turn, no such issues and this issue also not all the time..most of the days..very smooth..

next month will be 6 months with this car.

im on 17,800 mileage.

I have a roadtrip lined up to Southern Thailand for 1 week starting mid september.

two questions, can I service before 20k and if I exceed 20k..how much is still considered reasonable.

I dont think japanese will go all in for ev.

I think they most probably will push for hybrid.

even the fe ehev rs for me the best version of civic ever except type r.

imagine building type r on the immd technology with obviously bigger budget, may even result in the fastest next gen type r.

hard to start the car as it starts in ev mode first

just done my 30k service over the weekend. my car vin listed for the steering rack issue. SC informed no items delivered yet and will call once they have received it.

so far i dont have anything severe, minor sticky steering and some noise if turn on very low speed. As usual all gone once you go for scheduled service..
