Has anyone owned both the FC and FE? If so, is the steering rack issue as common in the FC as it is in the FE? It seems that there are significantly more complaints about the FE’s steering rack compared to the FC. Additionally, based on what I’ve observed, the FC’s steering rack generally lasts a few years before developing issues, whereas for the FE, some people are experiencing problems just a few months after replacement.

oh okay, i think maybe not steering rack sound maybe clock spring? Cos the sound is like from the steering. If the rack itself shud be at a much lower position i guess. Steering rack itself is in the engine bay.

its hard for us to know for sure. after all what you hear and what you describe with words can be very different anyway.

what i can remember is I hear my steering rack sound long (2-3 months) before I feel the sticky. Some are sensitive to touch, some are sensitive to sound, some both, some neither.

Hi guys… thinking to upgrade 4 pot without changing the rims for now. Hence needed to add 15mm spacer, is this type good? Will it negatively affect the wheel bearings fast? Will it cause vibration at speed of 150kmh? TiA

Considering to trade off my mazda 3 BM for the civic FE Facelift but i do aware that the steering rack is an issue other than that any other issues? So far my 10-year 278k km Mazda doesn't have any major issues except lower arm but that has already been addressed. Still drives good and all parts are still original fitted since day 1. Not sure is a good decision or better to hold off for other cars. Im considering a better power upgrade and since the new Mazda 3 uses same engine so meh...any comments? or feel like sharing?

Join the FE FB group, many letgo theirs at an attractive price (since carsome, used cars take much lower prices to them). If u willing to try, the steering rack issue, maybe you can find a permanent solution apart from SC, maybe a steering rack restore shop can setel this.
