Dengar ok
Percaya (marketing) jangan. laugh.gif

Key thing here: increase ground clearance, but lower center of gravity... Contradiction bro laugh.gif just clever battery placement - however realize this: it is better to have no battery, save the 100 kilos, than to have a better well placed in the car "lowering its center of gravity"

Laws of physics apply here.

But without getting too technical, using lotus ethos - "Simplify, and add lightness." Or ‘Adding power makes you faster on the straights, subtracting weight makes you faster everywhere.’
https://www.lotuscars.com/en-US/lotus-story

There's reasons for those quotes. (Obviously a Motorsports thing, and handling plays a very crucial role in Motorsports!) And i encourage you to find out why? - Why these quotes? Why light weight? Why ice or why EV/hybrid? "Why?"

Honestly, now you're just buying into the hype and marketing by reviewers la

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying EHEV is bad.
I'm saying you don't understand what handling means.

This is already a clear sign of you mixing power and handling laugh.gif

Sigh and i even recalled explaining the same thing

Haha....admittedly I'm buying into the marketing but not of Honda directly. This is actually the first time, I bought heavily onto it, not becoz of honda but based on many external video reviews and articles.

I can't differentiate handling and power in your real handling detail sense.
Really no interest in the detailed exploration of what handling actual is but lean more towards the overall enjoyment of casual sedan driving. Like I enjoyed the Civic FD driving feel on the steering vs Persona vs City, more road feel, more response. fast speed stable, higher speed cornering stable, no buang feel but anymore than that, I'm a layman. I can feel the difference but ask to tell in detail, err...I feel the difference...Hehe.

I think most layman who knows very little about car but enjoyed driving for years might have same view (my own 2 cents only). Cakap besar with casual driver ok, of course become mouse in front of car enthusiast.

I also have been wondering the contrasting 10mm lowered center point of gravity vs 2mm increase height....It does not make sense to me. I'm been joking with my wife, does that mean like those overweight thing, the center of the car bend downwards like too heavy in middle, so more stable lor???? But why honda say that as an improvement on stability?

Maybe I used the wrong terms and wording when viewed by a person who really knows what driving is but as a casual driver, for me handling means more road feel, quicker, more precise response on steering, higher stability on high speed and cornering. Power means pickup (torque kuah) and high speed acceleration still got energy to go further. That's enuf for my understanding. Don't let me talk to car enthusiast on this, its like a primary student talking to a teacher...feel so....small and my earlier talk all become like big wording with no shit understanding. sweat.gif

As for believing in marketing, I falls more towards the reviewers (video and articles), magazine reviews, youtube reviewers. Might be paid, might be real. When ALL the car reviewers says the exact same thing, except for the price and for some, the seat lack of sufficient cushioning, the car is really better in driving than RS, more pickup, the instant torque even on highway drive acceleration, better more stable cornering feel from someone who reviews lots of cars. That YS Khong guy say the same, those car magazine like WAPCar, Paultan, Pistonshow, etc and many individual reviewers, both locals and foreign (might be different setup oversea), say the same, some might be paid but many seems honest with some complaint but still the same view on the mentioned improvement. I'm bought and I don't think its just marketing unless all of them are paid to say good things only. I have rarely seen so many reviews harping on the same improvement with little complaints, so you can't blame me for being excited about it. I did not buy into the save FC thing tho...at least for a highway driver like me.

For CRV eHev reviews also I see, at least oversea with different trim but more into the engine performance of turbo vs eHev on driving feel, improvement and whether worth it or not. That one has split views...Civic eHev are one of those rare few without one. That is one of the reason I shift my buy target to Civic eHev. Anyway still waiting for CRV and I don't think the expected price hike will be favourable, tot maybe, hope 5% increase only but then now Australia release also say massive hike..haiz... Still talking about it coz still long wait till end of year, so I'm likely going to be around talking shit with long post (many shit to say, maybe no or wrong substance..haha) until I bought one or give up.

Might even rethink budget by end of year (the more we wait, the more we think), maybe go for BYD Atto3 hahahaha...really. I still don't trust 3rd party importer or distributor in long term servicing and commitment. Might still consider an EV a few years down the road if hype still persist and infrastructure and car range availability with affordable pricing is here.

Haiz...after think think, maybe I no buy car. 8 years down the road, take grab instead. No joke...economy not so good.. sweat.gif whistling.gif

Not all missus like to drive big car.  My bro wife don't dare to drive my bro CX5. Says too big,  my wife like wise don't like to drive my car,  she says too big.  I am driving Ford Focus and Civic. To date,  she has not driven once the Civic,  cause she heard me says the Civic is slightly wider than the Focus.  🙄

I have also driven a Santa Fe, Innova, Hilux and Ranger before.  It is nice to drive cause very high vantage point.  It is a nightmare when it comes to parking and maneuvering the car in tight parking lots.

I shudder to think how those guys who drive a Vellfire or Alphard cope with them.
*
My wife said the same thing, don't like big car and fear of parking with big car but strange, she still prefer either City class or high SUV (fear of flood)....very contradicting view. I also no understand.

I easier to understand, I prefer sedan with a boot (no hatchback) but life is not always about me only.

City is B-segnent car bro. Civic is C-Segment car,  same for CRV. Nowadays those B-segment car is also encroaching into C-segment car in terms of size,  and C-segment car is encroaching into D-segment car.

IMHO, you should prioritise your opinion and wants rather than your wife. If your wants and opinion coincites with your wife then by all means try to accommodate,  else I will say too bad. After all,  I am the one who is going to be paying for it,  not her.  That's just me.
*
At my age, I'm not so firmed anymore. Considering her preference is as important as mine, as we aged together, the more I appreciate her unmentioned sacrifice and dedication for the family.

So although I can say I love this and that car and harp all over about it and she will say ok to it. In the end, I know I will still buy one where she will appreciate too, even if I compromised quite a bit. Even if in the end, I don't get exactly what I want, the satisfaction of her being happy about it as well more than makes up for it. That's family, man.

Click on the fb link few post back and take that white civic 2.0 then you can stop thinking already 🤣🤣

But my skeptical point of view on a full EV, long run is a huge NO NO. I don’t know about BYD battery replacement price but if you’re talking about long run, replacing that huge ass battery probably can cash buy you a City. Some might say battery prices might go down, but image a world with more technologies and more batteries are needed, probably demand will still be higher than supply.

Besides, why wait 30min at petrol station when you can do it in 5? 😆
*
I'm waiting for CRV spec and pricing first. Long wait. Then cannot only consider Civic eHev. White one. Might go back to RS or even City FL....after excited go upgrade and upgrade, over the months, think think might downgrade and downgrade...

Still Atto3 looks nice with good torque, supposedly very comfortable and spacious but for our main car, EV with range anxiety and longer charging period will not be it. As secondary daily drive to work vehicle actually can consider. Once you buy EV now, you won't be thinking too much about battery replacement until you get hit with it. Tesla is even harping battery can likely last lifetime of the vehicle....100000 miles, ya, right, all my cars already exceeded that lifetime by a big gap.

My good guess, CRV eHEV gonna break 200k.
*
There might be 2 version of eHev. 1 for 2WD and another full spec sport RS 4WD eHev. Maybe the 2WD eHev can be price at 190K. Slim hope but not impossible. The RS sure no need think about it.

Unfortunately very hard to guess Honda Malaysia pricing. The last time Thailand break 180K to 220k for their 2017 models (but using 2.4 NA engine), our Malaysia 1.5TC cut cost until hit 171K. Crossing finger they may follow the same cost cutting trend like exclusion of the panaromic/sunroof.

Wait and see first. No hurry for me. Too high, then can go downgrade, downgrade, downgrade until City FL.

At the end of the day, if you like EHEV Civic, just get EHEV Civic lo

Simple je.

First bold: sugar coating a flaw (battery weight) or just marketing.

On the reviews also, did they compare EHEV against RS turbo ICE or V turbo?
And even if properly done so, in the end is they buy car or you buy car?
*
Thats why I target CRV first, then if too high, I likely will go for Civic eHev if nothing happen to my budget decision by then. That has been my plan since I decided to look at new CRV and never change but as usual wait too long, can go sideway..

If got comparison, they will compare eHev with the RS. Although V might have certain advantage, I'm not into V spec. So its a fair comparison for me as I need to know the difference between my initial booked RS and eHev.

I read all their reviews to confirmed that the increased torque does makes a noticeable difference in daily ride pleasure. That allow me make decision on what I want...in this case, the instant torque even during highway acceleration. Just that alone already made up most of my mind on it. The 10"TFT screen too. The others like better NVH, handling, etc just add value to the extra 15K difference.

Of course the budget still matters thus although my plan still have not change, economic changes, family needs rethinking by the end of year might still change the decision but that is only an ÏF". Otherwise CRV will be my main target now follow by Civic eHev, if decided to lower budget by then, then RS and even considering to City FL.

for them, the 360 high-resolution camera helps more in this situation. for us, even the camera we don't look during reversing to parking cz we depend more on the rear/side mirror. in my offices, the majority of female office colleagues own & drive SUVs nowadays.
*
Actually I love the 360 during parking. So helpful even for small Vios. I can imagine the great help for SUV but I think the new CRV in some countries and likely including Malaysia might not have that. Of course all my other old cars takda still ok but 360 is a very useful tool especially for other family members who don't have the proper parking skill or judgement a bit bad.

Aish...bad news for me.

There is some bad shakeup in my finances due to work and a major mistakes in my own budget accounting, luckily it happened now rather than later after I committed the loan to the car.

Made a major mistakes in my budget calculation, my family hantuk my head for missing a crucial expenses....insurance expenses.
Don't ask me why I did not add that to my monthly budget. sweat.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif

The impact is earthquake......deduction of 1K for insurance per month. Not to mentioned some unsure future element with my work adjustment...

So there goes my ability to pay for eHev and CRV is gone....hahaha... :... cry.gif cry.gif

Likely will be downgrading my option to City RS (if still Honda) or cheaper subcompact SUV (for my wife).

Civic RS at high limit is still there in my list (C-segment space, ride quality, etc) but I'm extremely reluctant now.
Feel just like ppl tell me out of nowhere, my car has been repossessed and I have to take bus now... bye.gif bye.gif

I thought all the ppl blow water in this thread drive Civic haha.
I don't want to boast, I am just another cog in the wheel ya.

Itu old Civic FD count or not.

Thinking of FE as my last car I'm going to buy before my retirement in less than a decade, so of course try C-Segment lar. Actually that is to replace my 15 years old Civic FD as I'm not sure if Civic FD can last another 15 years....hahaha. Thinking buying now can get 7 years loan, loan period just right before my retirement.

Thanks everyone for pretty down to earth, realistic suggestion. No joke, I really taking all these comments into my consideration. Re-consider for E-Spec, reconsidering abandon C-Segment (there goes my FD replacement, downgrade), considering abandoning buy car for now...all from the posts goes seriously into my consideration.

Then again, might also consider abandon buying car altogether as I might be redoing my budget to possibly fully sponsor my precious daughter Master program, last resort abt 200K for a year plus living expenses oversea if she truly exhaust her viable option locally...But then there is no car for her to drive to school next year and in future if I divert all car fund to add on for her Master study.

Wait if my 15 years old FD, 17 years City failed me totally, how...Mmmm. Maybe I'm thinking too far but I always do that...the dilemma.

So many things to re-reconsider, heard new City petrol RS only need 1 - 3 months waiting period, X50 got stock....No fish, prawn also can... whistling.gif whistling.gif

bro the underbody engine cover is factory made of aluminum if u have seen it before.  I am merely getting a 1 to 1 swap lol. Plastic are those aftermarket brand orsen, durable and flexible but not sure good or not. Aluminum is very malleable, it will crumble instead of breaking.
*
There are different grades of aluminium with different tensile strength. If mixed with different alloying elements might produce very different alloy strength, etc. Can you be sure the one bought from taobao are using the same grades and primary alloy strength as the original?

CRV ehev price released. almost 30k diff from civic ehev. but add alot bell and whistle. the memory seat adjustment is the one i wish to have the most lol.
*
Memory adjustment, E spec onwards already got. Your civic almost same price with CRV E-spec liao...so the eHev is 26K more expensive than the standard E spec liao and 14k more expensive the V spec, mind you that V spec is AWD and eHev is FWD.

i compare eHEV to eHEV ma cos before i take civic ehev i also aiming crv ehev. all these while i only think of getting eHEV spec.

civic in other country macam also no memory seat adjustment. for me ok la, im alone driving the car, just that sometimes when traffic jam i wan set the seat to more relaxed position with the ACC turn on.
*
I also aim for eHev....cannot afford..haha..but truly the eHev is the real new 6th Gen CRV. This is really how 6th gen CRV should be driven. The rest is just lowered spec so that poor shit like us wth maxed out budget can try to dip our head in it.

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jan 16 2024, 10:44 AM)
Now this, i don't think applicable to the masses - with the oil monitoring and servicing averaging 5-6k km because majority of our usage is stop go traffic in Melaka, we are servicing the car around 4-5 months instead of the 6 months usual schedule, that's an increased cost.
and of course, fuel consumption. stop go traffic jams, the turbo charger isn't benefitting much. and we're generally just using a 1.5L NA. of course when things clear up and you put the foot down, it's a very VERY damn good engine with a very intelligent and efficient CVT to pair.
we are averaging 9-10 KM/L, not exactly terrible, but not anything stellar for a modern brand new car.
and this is where the HRV EHEV comes in, averaging 18-20KM/L easy in our usage conditions.
no extra oil life monitoring means we only service at a set 10k km/6 months whichever first, and that means only following time as we don't clock that high mileage anyways.

so servicing cheaper, FC is no brainer.
and here's the important point for us: we got a good family family internal deal. we didn't have to pay the "premium" of a EHEV hybrid, while able to enjoy the benefits of the fuel savings.
this clearly does not apply to the majority. the extra 20-40k++ (ehev trim compared to the trim below it) on ALL models, City/HRV/Civic/CRV etc, that amount of premium spent you will not get your ROI in fuel savings in a feasible short amount of time. (many have provided calculations, i won't go into detail)
*
Actually I'm have been wondering about the short service schedule of turbo monitoring and servicing schedule too coz any new car that I ultimately decide on will be family car and mostly driven daily by my wife to pick up kids, to work, old ppl passenger...mostly.

That is pure City driving in Klang and Port Klang with lots of jams and stop and go traffic. Not much chances to use turbo unless I am driving it to work in KL. So its will come to the same situation as yours in terms of fuel consumption and servicing schedule.

Haiz....I got no family internal deal....its not just the fuel saving that I'm looking at, its the eHEV silent drive experience (the muted engine noise big difference than HRV ler), smoothness of drive and the instant increase torque in City drive that I'm look forward to. I have a chance to ride in Civic eHev and I love it but as you mentioned, Civic is too low.... for my old knees, my back, my 80 years old mother..

So if I go Honda, unless I take City with NA engine, all will face same turbo scheduling condition.

Actually eHEV pricing difference for HRV vs turbo is ok. ROI can be recovered easily. Its just I don't prefer the back seat inclination and hardness and can't seat 3...its practically a 2 seater. with the middle raised so high, it cannot be seated. Otherwise if I go HRV, eHev is worth it tho vs turbo. Not much difference in spec except for the engine.

Now with other models, aka City, Civic especially CRV, the premium over the turbo is really huge that it is a bit hard to swallow if we compare vs the turbo pricing.

HRV not silent, in fact i think it's annoyingly loud because the 1.5 Atkinson engine is badly underpowered for the heavy hybrid SUV body (about 1.4 tons)

While i haven't tasted the EHEV Civic, i suspect the experience is quite different between the 2 cars. After all, one is b SUV while the other is C sedan.

Can't ROI recovery the price difference of hybrid la, unless maybe our fuel price double or triple, even then it'll still take a good 4-6 years, + +
*
Haha...I have been saying Civic and CRV using 2.0 NA engine is muted aka normal engine noise. At least on Civic eHev, when its charging, don't feel annoyed at all. I have sat in City eHev, engine noise quite loud whenever charging....HRV using the same 1.5NA engine so I can imagine the same.

I don't think it's about SUV or Sedan difference, it's more on the 2.0 Atkinson engine of Civic and CRV vs 1.5 engine of HRV and City, that is making the noise.

If subsidy removed and we kena, it will be almost double the price or at least over 50% increase in fuel price.

If we only look at fuel saving, you are right but experiencing Civic eHev, I won't think too much on the fuel saving but the premium you pay for eHev is mostly towards the increased enjoyment in driving experience. For ppl who enjoy casual driving a lot, I am tempted to pay that premium for that experience with added benefits of fuel saving, that if I can afford it in the first place.

Most ppl just look at hybrid for fuel saving, thats what most ppl do anyway but they missed out a lot on the benefit of EV driving experience, drive at least on Civic and above.

hello guys. After few years driving Inspira & Preve, now I'm joining this club. Before this I  was contemplating either to buy Civic, CRV or Tesla M3, so last week had tested CRV RS, for me just meh. 30k for slight advance feature from Civic eHEV. Tesla M3 too hassle to buy n bring to Kuching, and EV infra still small here in Sarawak.

So i just made booking for a ready stock white color available in Kuching showroom.

funny thing that my SIL bought HRV V spec early last year, then my wife replaced her Preve with City RS last October, my sister just recently gotten WRV RS last week, and now me with Civic. Once loan application status settled, maybe can get the car end of this month or early next month. new car for raya yeah
*
CRV is for family size comfortable drive with big rear seat, older ppl also suitable. Tuned for comfort with a high ground clearance above 7". Cannot compare with Civic eHev which have a sportier tune. Civic has a ground clearance of 4.8 to 5", knee pain when going in and out of it. Harder seats. Not so comfortable compared with CRV. If you are one who loved to drive, (coming from Preve background that have good handling) the handling of sedan-based Civic definitely is satisfying than the comfort tuned high ground clearance SUV.

yup i do love driving. thought of buying CRV because of practicality of bringing my old mom and easy to drive/park in kuching. so thank you for the expensive price, i can get fun drive experience back with civic.
*
Actually if you getting Civic FE eHev, CRV E spec is only a few K difference. For family comfort wise especially if you have old ppl around, CRV will be way more suitable. But for personal driving, I can't deny FE will be much better than CRV, just myself too old for it liao after considering my next few years knee might go, already got a bit of back pain seating in my Civic FD, FE even harder seat. CRV has some lumber support, FE almost takda.

My reason for considering CRV is also partially for my old mom and rear passenger comfort. my Civic FD got problem go in and out already and that is 6.6" ground clearance, Civic FE even lower at 5" and harder seat. My knee also starting to ache liao. HOwever if I'm at 40, I would still go for Civic FE especially eHev anytime.

Now my knee cap tak boleh tahan, my mom tak boleh tahan, trying to go for SUV for my next car if I can afford it.

Previously my late dad owns CRV 1st gen, I already got used to it. Just that I like sedan cars more, opting on new CRV just for practicality. Also here in my hometown, im driving my sister's P2 Aruz which is sucks to the max. So stressful driving this underpowered rough sampan SUV.

And currently my Inspira is driven by my sister in KL, dont have chance to bring it back to Kuching yet, so better i buy new car for my use here
*
Aiyo Aruz where can compare with CRV drivability, size and power. And yes, if I'm still 40, I would still opt for FE especially eHev if I can afford it and I am the daily driver. For family consideration tho and my old knee and old parent, have to give up Civic tho. Main concern in Klang Valley also....ground clearance too low, risk of flooding is real.

may i know if 3m crystalline tinted for whole car how much ya? and do u guys really follow jpj standard, thinking 70% for windscreen will it be too bright for civic such handsome car, and if 50% will it be risky everytime pass by roadblock? i am in dilemma, any suggestion?
*
If you want to be JPJ compliant, almost all tints listed at 70% for front windscreen will fail Puspakom. You have to opt for VLT of 80%...once tinted on FWS, will drop down to near 74%++ to be compliant. However at 80% VLT, the TSER will be quite bad. Those listed as 70% usually will drop to about 64++ VLT thus not JPJ compliant.

If you don't care about Puspakom since 3M highest crystalline tint also not really JPJ compliant liao when stick on your windscreen and just don't want to be stop by roadbloack, then ranges around 60+ VLT unlikely to get stop coz they are still very clear, don't look dark.

Going at 50% although still looks clear will be a bit of a risk as it will look slightly darker than usual, still not dark but risk there there as the clear tint feel is at borderline. If you opt for tint that listed at 50%, you will like have actual ready of 44 to 46++ VLT only, that is why it will look at borderline of dark tint, a bit risky if you met a sharp eye or cops desperate to fill quota. My 2 cents.

You can tint the rear windows and windscreen darker at about 30% VLT with actual ready of 21++. Clear at night if you use a branded tint. No JPJ limit on that, so for me that is the best dark tint VLT that provide darker less heat and yet still has good visibility at night.

Lots of car including Honda test car all tinted partial dark like this. For me Honda 5% VLT rear is a bit too dark at night.

Do note, 3M crystalline got smart tag reading issue if you need to use them, otherwise, you either have to cut a hole or wind down you side windows to lift your smart tag outside your car.
