Wonder what is fuel tank size of the FE

Is it similar to the previous model of about 50 litres

I normally pump my current car just once a week after travelling about 500km with about 1/3 remaining so there is no fear of empty tank.

Some new Japanese cars with fuel tank of only 40 litres, pumping at 500 km, not much margin to play with
*
Not sure if it's the same tank with the US version - 12.4 gallons (around 56L)

Just posting here for reference, sold my stock standard launch unit 2016 Civic 1.5 TC-P for RM83k at a used car dealer in JB. Carsome / mytukar would get slightly higher, but I wanted to do assignment of number plate, so easier to do with used car dealer directly.

And with that, my SA says should get my car on Saturday at the latest rclxm9.gif

Design-wise, looks good, but only time will tell if it would be a nightmare to clean. Didn’t read anything bad from civic us forums

What was your car mileage? Any major issues with the engine or gb?
*
67k. No major issues. Just the warm start grinding noise that is prevalent to all Civics. Never had that steering rack problem too. 2 warranty claims though - airconditioning & vsa/abs modulator.

Found this little tidbit while browsing on youtube. Can't simply lift up wiper like before

Also - when empty (0 distance to empty), there is around 1.3 gallons (5L) of fuel reserve before completely stopping

May I know is there 17" Michelin PS 4 tyre that can fit V spec Civic FE?
*
215/50R17 - same as FC tyre size. Confirm got PS4 tyre size.

Latest news: Michelin Pilot Sport 5 is out https://<link removed>/2022/01/24/michelin-pil...t-5-introduced/

Thanks! Since we can also use PS4 on V spec, i suppose V spec grip & handling will also be good by using PS4 (although will not be as good as RS spec). The article says sizes of the PS5 start from 205/40R17 to 275/45R20. V spec 17" rim is 215/50/R17, will it be covered for this new PS5 tyre? (50 already exceeds 45?)
*
Unsure about tyre sizes - need to check when tyre is available locally. For now, can't find 215/50/R17 in any website, but there is a 235/40 ZR18 95Y size for RS https://www.tyres.com.my/tyres/michelin-pil...sport_5/108+205

AFAIK, if the car is already registered to your name, the car is yours (and the bank). If you reject & don’t sign, they will repair the car defect, but you won’t get the car while they are fixing it.

Not sure if you die die don’t want, what will happen coz the car is already registered to your name.

From my previous experience with “launch car” with the FC 5.5 years ago, I highlighted issues with the SA (minor ones) and I collected the car normally. During the 1k service, they repaired it. In fact, some water managed to enter my right side blinkers when driving during a storm (before 10k service), they replaced it under warranty too.

Sad, my car assignment had issues with the jpj system, so can only collect my car tomorrow or Monday at the latest. Still a CNY car tho biggrin.gif

Ignite Red RS. Most cars delivered are E & V variant at my dealer. I haven’t personally seen any on the road yet tho.

Just taken delivery of my Ignite REd RS - driven it around my office area which includes a short highway. First impressions and comparing with 2016 Civic FC TC-P

1. This car is noticeably a lot more quiet - engine, CVT and wind noise.
2. Wind noise up to 110km/h is negligible. Tried driving 130km/h, wind noise is still muted, but can hear.
3. Much more confident & stable compared to FC - didn't notice the speedometer reached 130km/h.
4. Somehow, feel like driving position is higher than FC - not sure if this is true, but it feels like it. Blindspot area around A pillar confirmed better than FC.
5. The half analog, half digital meter cluster is the single most annoying thing to look at imho. At least the FC has a full digital cluster in the middle.
6. Still no RDS!
7. Fit & finish of the launch FE is BETTER than FC. No inconsistent / wide gaps anywhere that I can see. Maybe QC better?

Reserve future comment until I have driven the car more.

Power wise shud abit more feel?
*
Not sure if just perception, but yes, I do feel that the throttle / cvt response is better. Don’t have the small lag that I usually have with the FC - it’s either gone, or the lag is minute compared to the FC

QUOTE(chongkiatz @ Jan 31 2022, 12:18 PM)
latest Civic dont have temperature gauge?
*
None unfortunately. During cold start, the blue temp icon lights up until optimal engine temp, then it turns off. If overheat, it will pop up message on meter cluster.

Last Saturday while servicing my car at Peringgit, arrived early, nobody around and molest the civic kaw kaw
Built quality yes, better
and agreed on the sitting position a little bit high,, but I like it, even almost the same with Accord
*
Glad I’m not just imagining it laugh.gif also, because of the RS wheels are on 235/40/R18 tyres - you will definitely notice the bumps on the road more than the previous FC 215/50/R17 tyres.

Additional observations:

1. After driving around a number of passengers, can now say that it is confirmed that the rear passenger comfort has been improved - wider and more legroom. Much more easier to go in and out compared to the FC.
2. The glovebox is a noticeable weakpoint for the FE. Not only is it smaller compared to the FC, but the opening would require the front passenger to flatten / withdraw their legs towards their body. This is not the case with the FC.
3. The Honda Connect app is really good! Yes, can remote start, check fuel capacity, distance, battery condition etc, but the most interesting feature is it records your drive. Not only does it record your driving time, average speed and max speed, it also records your route. Unsure how long will they keep the records for though. Also, how long is the included subscription and how much is the annual fee. Yes, this can also be a privacy concern, but it is something good in my opinion.

How about panels gap quality? Looseness? Rattles?
*
None whatsoever in my case - luckily! But I only drove for 130km now. Will give input after I completed 1,000km.

QUOTE(ayamxxx @ Feb 1 2022, 08:22 AM)
The app is almost similar to those given by Proton. Best is it can lock/unlock the car by phone, send gps location to the HU. Hopefully all newest car had this feature from factory.

Anyway try the VTEC mechanism on FE, which FC not have it. Same engine wise but thus it got any 💥 at high rpm? Any feel?
*
Didn’t manage to tekan all the way yet - or reluctant to do so in the first 500km. Will give input once I do so.

Also 2 things to note:
1. My complaint about tyre yesterday being noticeably harsher (noticing bumps/imperfections on the road), it’s now just mildly harsher compared to the FC. I forgot to check the tyre pressure after taking delivery. Honda recommends 220kpa for all 4 tyres - mine was between 235-255kpa. After filling it with the correct pressure, the harshness was largely removed. So do check your tyre pressure just after taking delivery ya guys.
2. I now found a minor issue in my car - the rear seatbelt sensor. Of the 3 seats, only the right one was functioning properly. The centre and left seats are not detecting any passenger. Front passenger and driver seat sensor are working normally. This will be raised up & addressed during the 1k service - something for you to test in your car later.

Huh 220?its a flat profile tyre right and wider than mazda 3s. 220 will be prone when u go thru potholes area or rain and dont see o. Alot of M3 owners kena ady

Mazda 3 on load with passenger 260 for front 250 for rear if turanza

U can put less for PS4. I still put 250 as i prefer a stiffer one and family is still comfortable on it
*
Not a Honda Engineer so I just follow the recommendations. Put more, definitely can, but you run the risk that tyre will wear out faster in the middle with less than optimal grip.

QUOTE(mytaffeta @ Feb 1 2022, 10:44 AM)
all rear passenger need to buckle up, else will have bip bip sound?
*
So far only front passenger & driver is required to buckle up with warning sound. Rear passenger just warning on screen. Press home button to dismiss.

To correct my earlier post. After reading through the manual and going through some of the international civic 11 forum post, our Civic FE does not have rear weight sensors - it does not detect a person physically sitting at the rear seats. What it detects is the opening of the rear seats, and a person fastens and unfastens the rear seatbelts.

The driver will get an alert in the centre console of any fastening and unfastening of the seatbelts. Sorry for my mistake and confusion earlier.

Further review after driving 250km cumulatively.
1. RS seats are an upgrade compared to the 2016 FC. Side bolsters are in the perfect position (for me) and the alcantara/suede fabric does allow me to not slide while taking a hard corner.
2. The airconditioning of the FE (at least in my unit) is also damn cold! Comparing to the FC, it’s night and day. FC I would put at 23-24c automatic temp/fan, but FE I would adjust 25-26c automatic temp/fan.
3. Not sure if paint thing is a weakness - but I had bird dropping harden after parking outside for a few hours. Came back, wiped it off with wet wipes - a bit vigorously due to hard droppings - and there is now a noticeable minor scratch where I scrubbed off the bird dropping. Will be going for coating next week since most shops are closed now - so I have to live with the minor scratch for now. So beware ya guys, don’t make the same mistake as me - just moisten the dropping first before gently removing any bird droppings.

I bought Civic FE Trapo Hex 2 mats - Front & Rear + Boot for RM573 today at Shopee. Will give review once I received them (1-2 weeks).

Cannot tahan, went for polish & hard wax. Luckily all the scratches are removed after a quick polish. Beware again ya guys - do soften up the bird droppings (blast it with water, or just leave the wet wipes on it) before gently wiping it off.

Can ask how much it cost ? Planning to do polish to rectify those paint problems on my bonet too.

They didn’t charge me anything - went to Cars International and requested them to do Hard Coating Wax, and also to help me remove the scratches. They only charged me for the Hard Wax (RM60). I gave them some extra for pocket / coffee money though for the job well done laugh.gif
