If they did , it would be destroying the classic . The whole reason why we have had classics like Baldur's gate and KOTOR , which uses the specific edition of DND is because they are the epitome of the game system .
They can perhaps switch to something more modern like BG3's 5E .
On a perspective of maximizing profits , I wouldn't be surprised if they did . If you ask the BattleRoyale gamers today what is thac0 they will probably refer you to taco bell .
