Any users of the new RTD1619DR chipset care to share user experience?

Are Zidoo box still facing buggy firmwares?

I used to own a X9S few years back (more than 2yrs ago)...
1. I like:-
a. Home Theater 2.0 (This is bestest and I've seen the new HT 4.0 hnnngggghhh version)
b. Picture Quality
c. Subtitle colour

2. I dislike:-
a. Fast forwarding is too slow...it's like every 1 min (compared to Himedia boxes where it goes very fast till end of movie and this is my main turn off especially point 3 whereby the movie drops out and i need to start watching again and FF is taking too long)
b. Startup time
c. Buggy firmwares where while watching movies sometimes it just drops out
d. rmvb files can't open (not too big deal)

Since now Himedia don't launch new models, I'm inclined with the new Zidoo boxes to test out the Dolby Vision setting. Price of Z9X so expensive now console.gif

Appreciate all the feedbacks

I have been using Z9s since 2018 or so
currently on HT4.0 and Music player 6.0

I don't face the FF issues, as I very seldom use that
No issues with start up time
So far no drops out from movie, ranging from std 1080p to Full UHD iso
I dont do RMVB files either

How much is the Z9x?
I read the DV is good though
*
Z9X is around RM700+ now, used to be RM800+

FF bugs me at that time because of movie drop outs and also sometimes stop watching halfway and can't resume (need to start from beginning). Himedia at that time don't have this issue but the firmware was facing some subtitle issues which was resolved with later firmware.

I liked the X9S Home Theatre no doubt, picture quality and subtitle colour but at that time the firmware was somewhat depressing...so thinking maybe by now no more such firmware issues.

i hear u, i feel u. biggrin.gif

i m at a loss as to what to buy upgrade to next too.

z9x is probably a good bet for both video and audio playback, from what i read and hear.

but it is the other lesser features like navigation, control, android apps compatibility that may bear u down.

i never had a zidoo but had a couple of AC Ryans back in the day - realtek chipsets are good, no doubt.

perhaps we have to accept we can't have it all in one device/box.

even now, i am using 5 boxes laugh.gif - on 3 TVs/home theaters - for various purposes - local playback, astrogo, china apps included.

i still hope himedia will launch a worthy successor to the mighty Q10pro!

Yes, himedia is like dead quiet now. I really like the Himedia boxes in general but that Zidoo Home Theatre 2.0 was really nice to use. Now with HT 4.0 and DVLL, that's why it's tempting. Plus....9.9 sales is just around the corner biggrin.gif

I guess there's no perfect boxes. I'm still happy with my Himedia box just want to see whether any user reviews that may finally push me to get one. lol

@Jjoottt 800+ I think ok la, for its function I think its really good (for my usage)

or you want buy my Z9s? I don't mind getting the Z9x hahahha

but I'm purely using it for NAS playback only and no nothing else

I prefer HT 2.0 more than 4.0

PM tepi price Z9S, if it's tempting biggrin.gif

I also don't stream, but after sleeping over it maybe I'll hold off Z9X for now. As it is still undecided. lol

thanks for comments! thumbup.gif

z9x, z10pro, z1000pro, even z3000 use same chipset RTD1619DR, am i right?

yeah, firmware improvement may be able to solve BD menu glitches.

futeko has this to say:
himedia q10pro wasn't 100% either but with last update, full BDMV playback incl menus are almost perfect now.

like to ask u for z1000pro...

1. the HDD slot - what's the max capacity?

2. BDMV (those m2ts, not ISO) - do u get hiccups with 1080p or 2160p or both?

3. BDMV 2160p, MEL or FEL - does dolby vision work good?

4. can the box playback all lossless audio types - dd, dd+, ddtruehd, ddatmos, dts, dtshdma, dtsx?
and... i do like the elegant look of the z1000pro!!

Yes, z9x, z10pro, z1000pro, even z3000 is using same chipset RTD1619DR.....

Not sure about the HDD max capacity, coz the one I put in just 1.5TB. The max capacity is not my concern as I mostly using NAS.

the BDMV and m2ts so far no issue playing 1080p or 4k contents, most my 1080p is run perfectly on Z1000 pro, other than menu issue on 4k contents, I noticed some movie cannot play not sure is due to my VS10 setting as I force it output as DV. Maybe I should try change to auto.

I not sure how to identify is MEL or FEL for those 4K movie, But so far my setting is force to output using VS10.

Lastly, I used bitstream to my denon 3700 so the audio type I didnt test out. But based on spec, it is covered most of the format.

1 of the reason i choose Z1000pro also because of the outlook. My old player is Dune been used for more than 10 yrs but was having problem after lightning strike.

Do you find the picture quality improved after force output DVLL?

@Jjooott
which new beta fw? ada apa new goodies?

frankly so far I don't recall any encounter with bitrate or wat issues when playing on the zidoo all these years

my stupid problem all these years was only ethernet stuck at 100mbps  doh.gif  doh.gif

Fuhhh, the new firmware v2.3.80. Link is here below

http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?threads/be...released.91052/

From what I see yesterday, the trailers are now working and it's automatic when you go into the movie profile in HT 4.0. I don't venture much into audio but it seems many new updates

Prior to this I also uploaded the v2.3.60 beta which is also better compared to the last official firmware (forgot which series)

So far so good with the latest 2 beta firmware thumbsup.gif

House member. Lol

So far haven’t reached the level neighbors bising yet, don’t think it will reach. That’s why I will not need to upgrade my speakers anymore. Lol

By the way, I moved up from TV speakers to satellites to floorstanding and then did an upgrade to old and used B&W (which will be final. Lol). Thought I wouldn’t need a sub after that upgrade but felt not enough bass. So… Added an entry level sub for that little bass (for that little oomph) and that’s it for me.

My bad. Lol

But I’m liking the z9s so far. My previous issues with my old z9x box seemed more or less resolved so it’s a good unit 👍

Home Theatre 4.0 it’s 👍

I only watch 720p on my 55” TV. At the distance I’m sitting, that’s already very HD to my eyes. Lol

I’ve watched 1080p and 4K…from what I can see 1080p is about the same to 720p upscaled to my 4K 55”. 4K yes it’s like very real and water-fluid like movement and can see significant different. It’s like almost unreal

In the end, I chose 720p for my old eye viewing experience

Haiz... 4k 55 also cab give good picture. Play better sources!!

QUOTE(kkthen @ Oct 27 2021, 10:28 AM)
I think big different is Hdr and Sdr (10bit color vs 8bit color).  I can differentiate 720P & 1080p in my 65 inch led  tv.  But 1080p &  4k sdr ,  I  can not see different from my 9ft viewing distance. But 1080P & 4k sdr ,  their  sound density  is difference  a bit even  same sound track. Especially Music show ,  I prefer 4k sound more dynamic more density. Maybe Video bit-rate increase will affect the sound.
*
Not all movies have 4K sources. New ones from Hollywood yes, Netflix also but I also watch Hongkie movies a lot. So I don’t want to discriminate 😂

Of course 4K is better that’s for sure. Maybe it’s just me 720p and 1080p looks about the same or it could just be my sitting distance and TV size makes it immaterial between the 2. If my TV bigger or if my sitting position is nearer I guess they make a difference

QUOTE(kkthen @ Oct 27 2021, 01:57 PM)
I also do not know why they are different.  They should sound same because producer  use same source & same format.  But funny thing  we can easily hear different form this 2 version MV.
*
Ain’t both just difference in picture quality?

Movies are meant to be seen in cinema mode generally, more yellowish tint I think
