The 16-e0122AX, has 100% SRGB but 45% NTSC. Is this true? I always thought that it must have 72% NTSC to achieve 100% SRGB

The numbers are here: TECHUDA - HP Victus Review

It says NTSC is 72%

I'm not sure if this review is legit because it is all text, no screenshots/photos.

UPDATE: HP Malaysia lists the intel victus having 45% screen. High likely it is this spec (common for budget gaming laptops).

Get from shopee...I just checked out today sales. For RM3,779.20....plus I bought a separate 8GB 3200MHZ RAM for only RM140

Also, for the AMD variant seems to be giving SRGB 100%. I've chat with several sellers to double confirm this aside from confirmation from the site.

Edit: if you looking for the Ryzen 7 might have to purchase from the official site.

Where you get that 45% NTSC. 100% sRGB is about 72% NTSC. That is standard already.

hp malaysia lists 100% sRGB for Ryzen based victus but 45% NTSC for Intel based. must be a typo from HP but we can't tell which one is true.

being a budget laptop, high likely it is 45% NTSC and 60%ish sGRB

I don't think it is typo error especially it is stated in official HP website. My best guess is that the display is not the same display. Perhaps to keep the price down for comparable Ryzen version, cheaper display is used instead. sad.gif

This model on HP website states 100% SRGB. Only the shopee seller who states this model has error showing 45% NTSC on description (guessing they copy from the Intel version )

Just search the model or AMD victus on HP website.

Yes yes you need a device for that. Generally, HP's IPS display is good out of the box.

I'm interested to know the screen wobble, is it really prominent like in the youtube videos.

Yeah I'm curious about that as well ...but to me i guess it's a tiny problem as long as it doesn't wobble when I'm typing.. then I can live with it...

Anyways just an update Seller has shipped my item..from Penang my location is Selangor .

I don't know that you saw the Ryzen one with 45% NTSC, but I can say that the Intel one is using the 45% NTSC display compare to Ryzen to keep cost down perhaps.

Update: The laptop has arrived! All in less than 2 days.

I've just unboxed it a while ago and briefly set up (didn't have much time as I'll need to get back to work)

So, wobbly issue is quite significant if you compare it with other laptops (for my case comparing with Dell latitude 5300). However, when typing on a table even though with ceiling fan on you will NOT witness any wobble.

Only time when I witness it wobble is when you flip the screen or moving it around. The bottom of thee laptop has a rubber thing which prevents you from pushing/dragging your laptop whilst on the table...oh and it can be open with one finger.

I'll update agin later on when I play around with it more..

However, one negative thing that I realize in the brief moment was the screen.....I am not sure why mine has a strong yellow tint...have turned off night mode and brightness was set to max....this is quite weird..

Overall I'm at 8/10 satisfaction as it's a beauty....if I could get the display fixed I'm probably 10/10😁...now waiting for my RAM to arrive

Edit: I've managed to adjust the color temperature from AMD Radeon Software...on default it's 6500 I've maxed it to 10k and now it's white again! 10/10😁

Thanks for your great early review.
Does the laptop feel heavy or unbalanced? And do you feel it is bulky compared with typical 15 inch laptops? Also the 250nits screen, is it bright enough for you? Thinking of pulling the trigger too.

Heavy - Yes, it's at 2.3kg+ if not mistaken. However for a male it's a small problem. And it's a gaming laptop so you will have to expect it to be heavy. Most other alternatives comparing to this comes around the same weight, so you can't run away from this.

Unbalanced? - it has a rubber leg on the bottom which provides the grip on the table hence this might give a slight uneven feeling when holding. But I love the rubber leg thing as it gives me grip to put on my cooling pad that is able to tilt 40degree.

250nits - Speaking for my personal use , it is just right as I am most of the time indoors and used to always tone down the brightness from other laptop. Although, still I would prefer it could go a slight notch higher, . But for now using it indoors I would still tone down maybe 1-2step from the max brightness.

So it's definitely bright enough to me.

Thinking of uploading an unboxing video/review for this (although I have never done this before)😂

Hello, that's was fast that your laptop arrived. Even with high speed that the screen won't wobble?
I watch one YouTube Video, laptop at the background can see the screen wobbles.
When you press the keyboard, got feel like can push in easily? For the available RAM is available at how many GB out of 8GB? 5/7GB?
Do provide any pictures if available. Wish to buy but slightly over budget. My laptop purchase already packed.

Sounds like my son's lenovo Ideapad. It wobbles, but when in use, no one is going to notice it. Pretty normal for this kind of hinge design.

Thanks for sharing.

Baby Deka Ceiling fan with max speed , no wobble....keyboard press is easy and comfortable. Don't worry too much on the wobble..its nothing if you are using it on a flat surface, if you plan to use on your lap then it's not recommend as it's heavy and pretty sure the screen will wobble. Only thing is the num lock key it doesn't have a light indicator to show that the num lock is turn on/off

Ram available about 7.3GB.

For pictures, I am actually trying my best to film and provide a small review on YouTube 😅. Hopefully able to share with you guys soon maybe around next week.(as it will be my first time 🙏?

As for the RAM & M2 Slot. I have not pop up the laptop yet as I am still awaiting my RAM to arrive. M2 slots should be 2 slots. RAM is definitely 2 slots

Hello, thank you for the update. My old HP Pavilion 15 doesn't have light on the numpad as well.
I guess most HP Laptops doesn't have. Maybe expensive ones do have. hmm.gif hmm.gif

Wow! not much wobble actually. Aiya, could have chose Victus. I bought a different one. Already packed. sweat.gif sweat.gif
Is it to heavy to carry around like for teachers? Suitable for ladies? Oh the RAM available is 7.3GB Available.
I wonder where does the remaining 0.6 RAM goes. How's the Wireless Adapter? I heard online said that coverage not so good.
How's the battery life? Have you try using without charger?

Which did you bought?

I would say yes heavy to carry around, I wouldn't suggest gaming laptops for teachers who cannot accept the weight. It packs performance which comes at the cost of weight...almost every gaming laptop with similar specs weigh around the same. The remaining RAM might be taken up by the OS, similar as your SSD it would not show 512GB as promised.

WiFi Card, i didn't bother too much on this.

As for the battery life you may refer to the report below, This is by browsing on Chrome,Youtube and idling in between. Translates to about 20% for 1 hour. which means, estimating 5hours ++ battery life, its a 4 cell 70wh, i would say its quite large capacity comparing with the competitors of similar range

HP Pavilion 14 actually due to lightweight. Managed to order below RM3K for 9.9 sales.
Waiting for it to arrive, probably tomorrow or Monday will receive.
For my sister's who is teaching in International school. Been waiting for ages since Aug 2020 to get the laptop.

The specification is 11th Core i5 with NVIDIA MX450.
Rarely game like light games, not the heavy ones.
For the RAM I checked mine is 7.9 available out of 8GB.
Maybe Ryzen CPU reserve some memory.

I have gotten my hp victus too. By the way, is there any way we can set a charging limit whilst plugged in? I see hp bios does have the battery health management but only for business model. Does anyone know if there's any way we can use that too? Or if there's other alternative ways to set the limit?

Yeah that's what I covered in the video as well, HP bios currently doesn't allow us to set charging limit....is either we use 3rd party app(not sure whether it works) or we should just spam HP email to give us an update on the BIOS with this function hahaha..

You're welcome.
Myself not really want to capture video.
I checked the delivery tracking. It is coming today.
How's the speaker? Is it good?

Yup, mostly Pavilion Series and above range comes with B&O Speakers.
My Pavilion does have B&O thing as well. Once enable then 20% volume consider loud enough.

Thanks man! Glad to hear that, my first time editing and filming.
Yeah that's what I covered in the video as well, HP bios currently doesn't allow us to set charging limit....is either we use 3rd party app(not sure whether it works) or we should just spam HP email to give us an update on the BIOS with this function hahaha..

Yah just saw your vid, not bad! Thanks for the yellowish tinted tip bro. Btw, any advice on how to preserve the battery while gaming? Does this mean we have to always unplug the battery when it hits 80% while in game?

just got my Victus last Saturday, 9.9 sales as well. Its a smart looking notebook. Matte all over. Screen also matte.

so far enjoying it, coming from acer swift 3 (1.2kg), it is definitely larger and heavier lol.

screen wobbles if you move it around, its actually comical. OCD people will notice it more. Just use it as usual, you look for wobble, you will notice it. You do your work/games, it is not that noticeable.

keyboard tactility is good, but i dont like the sound, it has sort of metallic noise around the JKL keys. lets see if it goes away with use.

wifi signal is a bit patchy at my office, needs more observation.

Glad it helps! Unfortunately if you want to preserve then yes...but it's not practical to keep unplugging it, and it will decrease gaming performance when you unplugged as well, so maybe just keep it plug in and don't game too long😂 or maybe we have to research a 3rd party app or wait HP to give us the bios update.

Nice! Which specs did you choose? Yea it's matte all over, which I like it as decreases finger print.

For the price and specs most of the gaming laptop will come around this weight which is heavy. (Let's not compare with the slim version series, which has downside of heat dispersion). I would only recommend this to people who doesn't carry around too often.

Yeah, the wobble issue a bit over exaggerated but I agree OCD people will notice it. And again I will only recommend to people who uses this on still surface..to avoid this issue as well.

Enjoy your victus😁

Sadly non upgradable as it is SDRAM.
8GB is enough for her as don't really use games really much.
I checked the laptop got 7.8GB available RAM from 8GB.

i recently upgraded mine using Kingston Fury Impact 3200Mhz

no issues, runs dual channel with stock ram

only thing is while opening up the bottom cover some plastic clips broke off. Just a reminder to you guys be very careful with that.

The main issue is the heat, playing Control on a non-AC room results in temps of between 80-88 even with laptop cooler. And I notice some parts of the game results in FPS drops.

Damn..did you start from the middle while you open the back?

I suggest starting from the middle and be very gentle, so that the force would be balance.

My additional 8GB RAM is ADATA 2X4 rank 3200mhz RAM. Runs dual channel as well

i started from the rear(vents) corners as those were the parts easiest to start to pry

opened the back again yesterday to add a Kingston NV1 512gb SSD, this time much gentler and using a used plastic card. Much better this time with no damages.

I updated my Radeon drivers yesterday to the latest version at AMD website. It includes the chipset drivers. Noticed the laptop is a bit more responsive after that. Temps at idle may have reduced, but need further observation.

Addendum : btw guys, while playing Control, there is one time i got crash to desktop with error message of video memory depleted(something like that)....so yeah, sometimes the rtx 3050 4gb will be felt

after opening the back cover 2 times, once with damages and once without:

1. use a plastic card - those mobile phone repair plectrum/pry tools just dont cut it due to the size of the notebook and strength of materials

2. pry every single clip gently and take your time

3. dont rush to pry and remove all at once at the end when theres 2-3 clips left - this is exactly what happened when i damaged the clips during 1st time

HP laptops are known for their unique designs. The Victus 16 is no exception here and distinguishes itself visually in many ways from the competitors. In addition to the V on the display lid (which is unfortunately very susceptible to fingerprints), the pretty design of the fan vents on the case bottom provides an individual look. Despite its numerous design elements, the case does not look overly playful but still rather subdued, which is mainly due to the dark colors.

In terms of the build quality, the Victus 16 leaves some mixed feelings. The plastic surfaces, which tend to produce clattering in some places (cover and touchpad area) could be more robust, for example. The hinges are also not perfect. First, when we open the display lid, the base unit also moves slightly with it, and second, vibrations of the surface will also lead to more than the usual wobbling of the display. On the other hand, the workmanship gives hardly any reason for complaint. Almost all the case elements of our test unit show clean transitions. However, due to the edgy design, some corners still feel quite sharp, so they can cause some discomfort while using the laptop.

Did you turn off the CPU turbo boost? normally it is the CPU that cause overheat instead of GPU.

please try this setting, i can play FH5 using default profile and auto fan speed with CPU temp around 7x, previously must use max fan speed and the temp still stay above 8x.

Also, i just lift up the laptop without any laptop cooler

nope , everything on default mode, yes turning off CPU boost will reduce temps, but its just too much of a hassle for me , if i were to keep changing the plan, i'll rather just stop playing warzone..

But anyways thanks for the tips, it helps if anyone were to game long .

Budget choice. If have extra budget go for other models that offer 3060. Else if tight on budget this works fine just make sure u add RAM.
