Actually, you are not wrong. Some watch collectors do collect bearbricks. But I am not one of them.

I prefer to collect anything from old books - first print run to rare board games and trading cards. I collect too many things liao. Probably need to dump some collectibles to my other homes again soon.

I think the reseller is paying those influences to promote it and create the hype. Now you can see many so called influencers are buying it and create a YouTube unboxing video

Overpriced toys

i checked on this, it was first famous in US as "Kaws companion" and eventually the creator, Kaws collab with other toys maker to make bearbrick. Kaws collab with many artist internationally and they market it as trend figurine or whatever the fuck they want to call it. Bearbricks are not anything special because Kaws has collab with other toy company to produce similar variant of this garbage.

so yes, all these plastic toys are complete garbage to end user. It is only worth your time if u know how to use it as a tool to make money. All these are marketing ploy to "sucker" your money. US started the trend, Japan companies want to market it, eventually come to Malaysia. A sucker buy another sucker bearbrick and continue mark up the price. The cycle of never-ending of finding waterfish. I believe there are some valuable but are you knowledgeable enough to define the value?

tldr: art figurine created by Kaws eventually being produced by other toy maker and marketed by marketing team to push as trendy products. Plastic toy selling at ten of thousands? I rather buy a long ass 4k monitor and play games until i short circuit my brain than buying plastic crap wasting my space.
