Is it safe buying laptop from shopee?. The seller sells alot of ancillary computer accessories and cheap random items in high volume. Some of the junk has 1 stars like 50 1 star reviews out of 1.7k reviews. Of the random 1000 items he has the gaming laptop i desire and also sells printers & printer spares.

The seller does have a preferred tag, the item i want is asus laptop has had 2 buys and both users left 5 stars review. Laptop cost 8k, should i use shopee pay for safety or take the credit card with 0% installment plan?. Or backout and wait, kl/pj doesnt have much stock even at brick and mortar.

Thanks.

[update edit]

Thank you everyone for you inputs, recommendations, shared experience and comments. There is no stock for the laptop i want even from the big online stores and brick & mortar. Ive decided to wait for the next batch and shoot the minute it arrives at lowyat instead of trying my luck at shopee preferred stores. FYI for other readers the laptop model im seeking is available on lazada but when i called their customer service there is no stock & no eta.

Greatday.

I bought my ASUS laptop via Lazada before too.
I even called the shop and negotiated for discount.

I got my unit as intended but later I also visited their store physically in Lowyat for some checking.
I think it is a risk that you need to consider and if you really worried, then just buy at shops.

It depends on which courier handling your parcel.
Order from Shopee and Lazada depend on your luck.
Got few cases of stolen laptop during transit.

for such an expensive item it is better to buy from official or just get from trusted shop.

even if it is genuine you may face issue like shitty delivery.

Validate the seller first, look at reviews and if got Preferred Badge or from Official Store then should be ok.

I recently bought my Razer Blade from the Razer Official Store on Shopee, opted for Lalamove delivery - all good, safe and sound.

Buy from official seller. At least can return with less issues. But buy from shopee you risk of J&T turning your laptop into roti canai.

If u scared of risk then buy from lazada since the buyer protection is strong there, shopee is shit when coming to stuff like these since they are pro-seller. Just prepare to record everything when u received it.

Bro choose one that has brick mortar shop. My first laptop was frm TMT(?) online store. My 2nd is frm Lenovo official store.

I think its safer with official store like Dell HP Lenovo sites especially if you going to spent 8k on such items.

Thanks.

I saw a laptop unit in Shopee, then found out they have shop in Puchong. Chatted outside of Shopee via Whatsapp, paid using TnG. The shop can even do Grab send to your doorstep, without extra charge (since they already saved without paying Shopee).

i bought asus rog strix from Lazada during 7.7 last month.. took 9 days to arrive from KL to Selangor... most of the time not moving from warehouse to warehouse.. still receive safely. For expensive item I prefer to buy from Lazada, safer and better customer service.

Many places laptop is out of stock. For rare models like yours that still got stock, if the seller is genuine one they will upfront tell you the unit is new but is display unit or stock that has been open to take product picture and repack back.

Basically the last unit of the lot.

try look at dell or other brand.. If you find one that is appealing to you, buying directly from them maybe a better choice.

Auto-assigned but can still arrange for 3rd party Grab / Lalamove.

They will give you a code to waive the delivery fees on Shopee.

Not all sellers allow it.

Razer OS allows it. Basically you either use a free delivery voucher or request from the seller and input it - and the fee becomes 0.

Then place order as per normal and pm the seller the details, arrange your own pick up / free from seller either way - then wait for it to reach you. The order on the other hand (from Shopee automated system).. they will send a dummy parcel with the same details (tracking number) which only contain a cardboard lol when it reaches you.

I also plan to buy a computer on shopee, but I don't know which one meets my requirements. Many people recommend it to me but they are not very satisfied, otherwise, it is too expensive. Any suggestion for the computer's brand that around 2500-3000.

Thanks.

Better you go ask in lowyat hardware what your requirement. That price can get above average quality if not gaming.

Dont but from Shopee. Better buy from online computer shop. I bought Asus 6k gaming laptop from C-Zone. They have trusted delivery like DHL or if you're nearby to their shop, can go pick ur self.

But their support really sucks. Have you tried their chat support?

Always claim everybody is busy....until cannot get anyone 24/7, padahal nobody manning their chat.

Many companies support went to zero or near zero the past 2 years.

Greatday.

hello from Shopee HelpCare support. hehe

yes, it is safe to buy laptop from Shopee.

between shopeepay or Credit card 0% installment... either way the same right?
Case 1 you get the item.
Case 2 item lost or damaged, you get refund.
if you are regular shopee buyer, use shopeepay. if you no money, then use installment.

you only got 2 questions correct? hmm.gif

Thank you very much for your interest in our selling platform.

The main point for laptop is portability. Easier to carry around the laptop everywhere u go compared to desktop pc. I can still play games at my hometown or on travel easily with a laptop.

Yes, its far better to lug around a laptop then your desktop for gaming. PS5 isnt as versatile as a gaming laptop which can double up as work io portal and creative content. Gaming laptop is a niche but a fairly large one manufacturers can profit from. YMMV.

Warranty matters. Shop will honour it if damage done in shop. But unlikely if damaged when sending to buyer although there is T&C that seller will provide warranty.

Check for threads on how much successful repairs or 1 on 1 exchange when damage is done during courier to seller..one i read somewhere is illg....r.

Plus, courier that factory-to-shop uses is likely have slightly better handling or else how to secure their long term business? High value items, they worry more than us buyer do.

Thats good good advise. Im now waiting for it to be back in stock, manage remember a salesman in lowyat in my phonebook who still works there. bought my childs laptop from him and hes has serviced me before by upgrading ssd and delivered to the front entrance so i dont need to park. But this time ill definitely park or maybe he can arrange for the payment machine to be brought out.

Could have upgraded the ssd myself, but he helped to transfer all the contents too the ssd and even delivered the laptop to the entrance. I guess nowadays one would think they can and would walk off with the laptop. This was precovid, times have really changed.

its ok to buy from official website/shopee mall stores, since they are authentic and have good service.

bought my acer nitro 5 laptop from the official shopee mall site:
https://shopee.com.my/acer_os_my

came with no issues. also remember to check the reviews and comments.
