You can do installment via maybank/rhb/citybank/standard charted if you're buying a Sony DSLR (Alpha) from Sony. No need credit card. But since you want a D40 so.... wink.gif

I think most camera shop got installment plan not only for cameras, but for other stuffs too (lenses, flashes..etc).. mostly will use the AEON credit service plan. u only need a month of latest payslip and ic photocopy.. that's it. u dun even need a credit card for that. but i think the process might take around a week or more..

if u need it fast, use credit card la.. nowadays got 0% installment plan.. go for the maximum months repayment period..(since its 0%..) biggrin.gif

Just be aware that once you go for the 12months 0% installment plan, it will be harder to bargain and get a good price as most shops will offer good offer for cash.

e.g. J-One offers RM1980 for D40 + 2Gb + bag (cash only)
If you pay by credit card got additional %2
If you pay by installment I think its more expensive

There are additional charges if you go for installment plans. However, it's the best solution for buying expensive stuff when you are cash strapped.

I'm still paying off the installments on my external flash. tongue.gif

for maybank 0% installment plan, its easy..
tell the shop u wan maybank installment, give them the card, they call the call center, then pass the phone to you, do some verification, and the shop swipe the card, volla... its done... no forms...
but of course... the price is normally 3-5% higher than what u can get... they call it "administrative fees"....

so.. normally when u ask the price, they will ask u, u pay by cash or card... u just asnwer if cash how much.... he will calculate on calculator and show u... then u say if card how much.... the he calculate again and show u... then u say wah.... got installment plan ar..??? if pay installment how much... then u select the best option lorr.. see cash better or installment better....

if u going for acc, which is RM2k, admin fees is 5%, so, RM100/12months, each months u pay extra RM8.33... RM8.33 only what... one fast food meal ia more than RM8.33...

if u purchase kit lense or bode + kit, RM 5k, admin fees 5% which is RM250, additional monthly is RM21 (if 12 months)... also is like taking 1 fast food meal....
